  Nebbiolos, white truffles, Volume II (Chicago, IL): A really interesting bottle of Barbaresco -- this showed a fairly dark fruit profile, with fine-grained tannins that were still very prominent. I like the touch of polish here that you find from the sweet fruit. Quite dense, but the freshness keeps this going.

  Early maturing in color. It has a soft and inviting nose. The palate is supple and round but with sneaky structure. Roses, some balsam, tar, and savory notes. This is on the muscular side of Barbaresco but with a suppleness and sweetness that draw you in. Fresh and balanced, with good depth, there is no part of this that stands out, but it all comes to a greater whole, and while its no barn burner, it is in a really nice place right now. My only nit to pick is that the tannins may outlive the fruit here. Mid peak and while I am sure this will hold for quite a while, it is in such a nice place right now that I see no reason to hold it for holding’s sake. Lovely. 90pts.

  Roagna Riserva 93 - ett ødelagt 89, ble det 93. Rett fra flasken ; svært jordlig, høstløv, litt varm mørk frukt, litt sukkertøy på nesen,i munnen flott syre, bra M lengde og grei balanse. M- tanniner, Fin frukt, men mangler den siste konsentrasjon og/eller intensiteten til å gjøre den helt stor. Flott vin 91p. Med 1,5t i karaffel nesen lik, mer lakris og konsentrasjon i munnen. Fortsatt litt varm frukt.

  A bit of a change form the Monprivato flight. Rounder, suppler, and with an almost oddly eucalyptus note. Quite floral , and with all of its parts coming together nicely. At peak right now and well balanced. Not the best bottle of this I have had, but still quite good. 91 pts
