Dinner at Richard's: 2/12. The last wine of the evening and notes are a bit sparse but whilst this has certainly opened appreciably from when last tasted (2008!) it remains quite a stern, virile wine, with an earthy, dark-fruited core, a firm tanninc backbone, fresh acids, and a good length if still slightly constricted finish.

The 1999 Jean Grivot Vosne Romanee 1er Cru Les Suchots is rich and slightly over-extracted, one of the Burgundy producers that went through an over-extraction period in the 90s and 00s. Tasted blind – Ripe and muscular array of dark berries, dark chocolate and chunky wood tannins extract. Inky and structured with high phenolic ripeness. Rich but tannins are unrefined. (86/100)

@Park Hotel Vossevangen Powerful, balanced, fresh, well developed but not near tertiary aromas. A wonderful wine that should have at least a decade further to go.

Burgundy Tasting (Restaurant Brunnenstube, Beinstein): Glass: Schott Zwiesel Burgundy / Riedel Vinum Burgundy Decanted. Clear, mid ruby color. Nose a bit more muted than the Corton. Cool red fruit, elegant, balanced with a good, medium+ acidity and firm, ripe and fine tannin. Wonderful length. 92-93
