  • "I drank all the Giz" (Chicago, IL): Served double blind. Too much tomato (not just the leaf) on the nose here. Reminiscent of tomato paste, if anything. Stewy, with lots of tannin. Clearly of some age, this is drying out a fair bit.

  • Excellent Xinomavro which has reached maturity plateau and can develop further within the next few years.
Nose is clean and elegant with aromas of berry fruit and secondary notes of herbs and leather. It has medium body a sleek texture with slightly angular but refreshing acidity and a firm tannic structure. It is flavorful and savoury while fruit is crisp and has still a freshness in the mouth. Finish is relatively long and mouth cleansing. Essentially a food wine of very fine quality.

  • Had with theme Greek night. Decanted one hour before dinner. Cut though the heavily garlic meal with hedonistic tannic structure. Lots of spice and a bit of peppermint and licorice. Fun wine but would not drink on a normal night.

  • Medium deep ruby colour. Nose is developing and of high aromatic intensity with the typical Xinomavro aromas of tomato, plum, with hints of polished leather and spice. Though typical, this a refined example without any hint of rusticity. Palate is medium bodied with medium to high tannic (slightly unripe?) content and deep flavour which is more savoury than fruity without lacking a fruity ripe plummy core. Overall feel is balanced with quite high food friendly acidity which leaves a clean finish. Very nice Naoussa wine from a modernist winemaker who seems to build on tradition. Ready to drink but still youthfull.

  • Drank too quickly this time as there were 5 bottles in the tasting and not enough time, aromatics still very good as before but body and palate was not as developed as last time, most likely as we did not give it enough time to open, this wine needs decanting!
