  • Pretty brick red. Grilled herbs and cedar nose. Drinking beautifully now, soft , mature, cherry core, elegant, balanced acidity , and red fruit finish. Drank with Quiche , cold pesto pasta and finished with a Burrata with salt, pepper and pesto sauce. Good with all. Not rustic nor earthy. These do age very well.

  • At a restaurant, from memory.
This was the least enjoyable of the three aged Riojas of the last three days. Thinner on the palate and not very expressive on the nose. Quite drinkable and with its own charm, but clearly a step down. Since the bottle was resting in the restaurant room rather than in the cellar, this might also be due to the not ideal cellaring conditions.

  • Still red fruits with excellent tea, brown spices, even slight dried dill note; great fresh aspect that went well with the strongly flavored pork loin, better than the '91. Long tangy finish. This is a winner and will only get better. 92-93. Rivera

  • Haven't had a real old world rioja like this for quiet a while. It was really pretty remarkable at first, if only because of the novelty -- a smokey unsweetened caramel nose and the oakey flavour you would expect. The novelty wore off over time, however, and it started tasting, well, cheap.
