Community Tasting Notes (1)

  • {screwcap, 13.5%} Oh, this is gorgeous. Dark garnet, the nose is very youthful still, meshing french oak, spice, liquorice, earth, mulberry and black pepper is a prefect nasal premoition of the palate. It's fairly low in acid, but still gets the saliva flowing; the texture is quite dense still on the palate; more from sheer youth than any intrinsic heft; and it manages to leave a savoury impression despite the generously sweet fruit. Medium dusty tannins help, no doubt. That all makes it just on the heavy side of medium-bodied, still quite fresh, and with the general impression that it should age for at least another dozen years easily. The palate is nicely even, with the middle and back of the tongue fully engaged; perhaps the finish isn't as long as the big bucks buy you, but still this is pretty decent stuff. Very good.
