Extremely decent bottle of bordeaux sweet white reminiscent of a highly regarded sauternes. Nice ripe botrytis with lots of honeyed apricot notes. Quaffable and well balanced though the acidity faded after a day. Had some heat on the initial tasting probably from the vintage. Not utterly complex but just enough to be at the crossroads between a fun sweet wine for a bbq party and a serious finisher at a black tie dinner.

1998 First Growths, Some SuperSeconds and Right Bank Equivalents (Goedhuis 2010 Charity Wine Dinner, Intercontinental Hotel Park Lane): Billed as Monbazillac on the menu card, I had never heard of it before the dinner. Very sweet, quite cloying, unsubtle, perfectly ok. A sensible wine to serve as the 22nd wine of the night, and most people seemed to enjoy it. A quaffer at that stage of the evening, though! Fine for the occasion, but I wouldn't buy it.

Really liked this. Vanilla, almond, and honey. Thick, sweet, a bit of alcohol on the back end (it's 13%)
