  • Kleur: Opvallend licht, fluwelig rood. Aroma / bouquet: Futloos. Tertiair. Beperkte complexiteit. Smaak / Afdronk: Boterzacht. Beperkte zuurgraad. Mooi gerijpte tannines. Mooie balans. Zeer beperkte concentratie. Prettig, zacht, goed drinkbaar. Maar weinig complex. 50 + Kleur: 5 + Aroma / bouquet: 9 + Smaak / Afdronk: 13 + Algemeen / potentieel: 7 = 84/100

    Google Translate:

Color: Striking light, velvety red. Aroma / bouquet: Lifeless. Tertiary. Limited complexity. Taste / Aftertaste: Butter soft. Limited acidity. Nicely aged tannins. Nice balance. Very limited concentration. Elegant but boring. General / potential: The previous wine from this producer that I tasted (2008 Daniel Gomez Jimenez Landi Méntrida The End) was still tannic and angular after 11 years. This wine seems lifeless and at the end of its life. Pleasant, soft, easy to drink. But not very complex. 50 + Color: 5 + Aroma / bouquet: 9 + Taste / Finish: 13 + General / potential: 7 = 84/100

  • Disappointing. Had very high hopes as we love the Sotorrondero and the next one up the list (Pielago?). Weak, thin, even after decanting for several hours. Wasn't corked per-se, but maybe just a bad bottle? I have one other bottle and will sit on it for a few more years before attempting.

  • This is really quite elegant Garnacha and sets a great example for what can be achieved with this variety in Spain. Really impressed with the results from this grape in the hills west of Madrid (see also Bernabeleva). Apparently raised in oak (I assume not new), this is not at all spoofed. Red fruits, good acidity, good aromatics, medium in body, smooth texture, and food friendly. A touch earthy. Grown at 850m. It is pricey, and does not meet the hype in some reviews, but if you block that out and focus on what's in the glass, you'll be rewarded. Lots of sediment so decant.
