Will this wine ever age? No signs of bricking; still quite youthful. Quite a bit of black fruits and spice. While not what I would expect from Beaujolais (too dark and roasted), it was fun to drink

86 pts

As before, but quite funky (in a good way). Acidity is a little lower than the other Château des Jacques 2009s I've tasted. Maybe a consequence of the 14% alcohol. Very good now.

This is aging better than my 2009s from the Kermit gang (and most others, too). It still has a lot of sweet primary fruit in black and crimson tones, piercing in intensity, but also quite acute and precise - an effective use of the grape's juiciness factor to make something fresh, but not glou-glou. It still has very robust tannins, neither especially elegant nor especially rustic, just solid.

Drinking extremely well tonight. Deep dark color. Nose that balances fruit and secondary notes. A mix of meaty, farmyard and rubbery. A wonderful mix of Pinot, Syrah and Gamay at this age. Balanced acidity and tannin, great finish with leafy notes. Great mature Beaujolais, wonderful now but has many years to go if you want.
