Garnet with amber edges, medium bodied (13%). Cork looks new. Explosive out of the bottle, but quickly fades on the nose after 45 min or so. Settles into a softly spoken lighter-bodied Syrah that offers plenty to like — smoky, scortched earth with berries, grainy mocha, and green pepper. Certainly past prime but not gone and lost — optimally drink now, and maybe 3 good years of decline left.

Iberian Wine Dinner (Milford, CT): My last bottle of this and it continues to show well. Gamey and beefy with herbs, bacon and iron filing. A lot going on here. Medium bodied and savory, with well resolved structure. I'm not sure I would hold on to this any longer, as I remember the fruit to be a little stringer the last time I had this. Drink up.

Iberian dinner (Milford, CT): Liked this a lot. Plenty of ripe red fruit here, and some meaty and leathery funk that makes it pretty recognizable as Syrah. Air brings out some more herbal and spicy elements, and there's bright acidity that gives the flavours plenty of lift.

Showing a bit better than my last bottle. Nicely mature, with herbs, iron, dried fruits and flowers. Tannins are well resolved and the finish is quite savory. Lovely, elegant wine.

Still holding up well. Showing some maturity, with the fruit less exuberant and the tannins melting away. Good balance .Still, this seemed a bit monolithic.
