4th Saturday Brown Bagger (R&D's): Double blind. Inky color. Cassis and currants with chocolate and dried herb notes. Full-bodied with fine tannin and flavors of cassis and black currants. Vanilla, chocolate and herb elements as well. Balanced, with a lingering finish. Lovely. (R&D)

Fine tannins with great mouthwatering acidity. Very smooth mouthfeel at this age but didn't find it to be too ripe or over extracted. Leather and ripe plum. Oak is well integrated. Can't imagine this getting much better with age except more tertiary but it has plenty of life left.

4th Saturday Group: Uptown Brown Bag (T&L's): Double blind. Aromas of black cherry cough syrup, herbs and black fruit. Firm on the palate, nicely balanced, showing abundant black fruit, ripe but not overly so. Despite the candied/syrupy fruit elements, it seems elegant by comparison to the first wine, and I enjoy the subtle herbal elements on display here. Guessed Napa cab sauv. This had been decanted 1.5 hours. 91+ pts. (RH/Spire)
