On the bigger side of OR Pinots with lots of spicy fruit that straddles red to black. Well integrated oak with just a slight hint of cola. This was drinking really well about 2 hours after being opeend.

Another big boy from Penner-Ash in 2009. This one offers some spicy green briar coupled with tobacco on the nose that I quite like. There's some slight earthiness there, but it's also really large in size... smells a bit like booze, too. The palate is very soft in texture (again, can't complain about these wines textually), offering mild spice, earth, and a creaminess with mild tartness. Definitely coats the palate. Spice and earth on the finish. Despite showing some tartness, this is overall really heavy feeling. Normally the earthy flavors would be right up my ally, but this is on way too large of a frame for my taste. I'd rather have this style remain in California.

Very well done. Took about 2 hours to come alive but once it did it was fantastic. Wonderful fruit with medium finish. Many years left in this one.
