Gorgeous colour with the expected level of bricking around the edges. Clearly unfiltered but not murky. Had that glorious hue of aged Burgundy. On the nose, the forward nature of the reds from this vintage clearly come through. Lovely nutmeg, red and orange flowers and a dollop of sous bois. My wife called it 'lovely' and 'pretty' and it's hard to argue with that. Unmistakably Vosne - the dominant spice here is nutmeg. On the palate, freshness - I can imagine this wine being quite a difficult child. At this age though, the acidity balances perfectly with the wood tannins and the kirsch-like flavour profile. This is really quite elegant despite its relative simplicity. There's this element of 'turu' - an Indian flavour best experienced in Indian Gooseberries (Amla). The easiest way to describe it is umami with astingency. This gives the wine a surprising length. The finish has distinct sweetness - much like eating that Indian Gooseberry and washing it down with water. Very enjoyable bottle.

Wines of Good Hope: Summer 2017; 7/29/2017-9/14/2017 (River's Inlet, British Columbia): Highly floral and elegant nose that contains bright red and blue berry fruit, vosne spice, and subtle soily influence. Smells stemless. Palate is youthful up front but yields to a nicely developed and terroir driven mid-palate with fall leaves in the long finish. Really pretty wine. Reminiscent of their '02 RSV last summer but not as striking. Good value here too.

At or possibly just past its best. Lovely structure and complexity. Light colour, with lightweight body. Good tannin structure with an earthy, cherry flavour. Really nice.

Great balance. Getting close to its end but still enough to be stunning. Good balance throughout, farmyard hints on the nose but plenty of fruit still on the nose

Delicate and developed Pinot and farmyard aromas. Soft wine with little tannins left. A bit short, but a pleasure to drink.
