A somewhat different Italian red blend of Negroamaro and Malvasia Nera. It starts out a little thin and metallic with a hint of licorice. There's a good bit of earthiness on the mid-palate along with dried black plums and raisin.

90/10 Negroamaro/Malvasia Nera. Medium intensity nose of dried fruit, light earth and forest, raisin. Kind of a ripasso feel though not quite there. Raisinated layers of dried raspberry, mushroom, kind of a one note attack that is nice then dry finish. Good value wine.

Coffee-mocha notes with a round, soft structure; tart blueberry, cherry, tart plum with savory meaty notes; medium bodied, easy soft well integrated tannins, touch of caramel oak, well-made with plenty of character. Great party wine with real honest to goodness Italian terror. Can't go wrong at this price. 90% Negro Amaro; 10% Malvasia Nero.

This is 20 year old vineyards (as compared to the other two Salice Salentino from this producer, which are much older). This is vinified in three months of big barrels just to round out the tannins. Rounded, with some spiciness as well. 90% Negrama and 10% Malvasia. Black Malvasia that is.
