Garnet color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Nose of leather, a hint of smoke, berries and cherries. Flavors of berries, cherries and a bit of currants on the finish. Tangy acidity, medium to firm tannin, medium body. Drink over the short term. Might benefit from a little decant before serving.

Slow-o for 4 hours, consumed over 1 hour. Lively red cherries and berries with some good acidity, with a nondescript savory note in the background. It seems that others picked up more of a bitterness than I did, but we also gave it lots of time to settle. Solid and pleasing, if not spectacular. Might pick up nuance with age, given a year or two.

Decanted about 5 hours. The nose starts off with plenty of cherry and dirt, slowly adding in some spice and leather, and ending with the faintest hint of coffee bean. A very pleasant leather and dirt mix upfront on the palate followed by leather and spice on the mid-palate, and nice red fruit finish.

Decent Barbera - not as good as other - a bit flabby and not very distinctive of Piedmont terroir. Plummy and fruity styled Barbera; very new world.

I always like Piedmont wine and this is no exception. The acid is a little too much but for 12 bucks, it's a great deal.
