Community Tasting Notes (1) Avg Score: 90 points

  • The 2005 Domaine Singla Castell Vell, a blend of 90 % Syrah and 10 % Grenache is a pleasant experience. Albeit massive and a bit dark and "brooding" with a very nice acidity, the mid palate is still a bit too thin. Finish lasts about 40 seconds. Tannins are vivid but at the same time enjoyable. The oak component is not integrated today, showing itself as a subtle tone of crème caramel in the end palate. This wine is an excellent companion to food and will gain from another year or two in the cellar. Recommended. Score is 89-90.
