7 months after pouring a glass with a Coravin, and then leave the balance of this bottle in the cellar, I pulled the cork and we drank the rest of the bottle. The wine is sound. No noticeable oxidation and I really don’t think it has changed over the noted time. Impressive technology. On the other hand, these 2009 Volnay from Bouchard are forgettable.

Tasting outside on a warm, calm evening. Poured two glasses using the Coravin:
2009 Bouchard Volnay Cailleret, Cuvee Carnot: Medium red. Nose is a little smoky and faintly cherries. In the mouth it is more expressive of cherry, sandlewood. Silky, not quite medium body, a little drying tannin.
2009 Bouchard Volnay Clos des Chênes: Medium red. Slight nose of medium red cherry. This more sturdy than the Cuvee Carnot, more body, more tannin and more flavour - and it seems younger. Longer finish. Very good.
JULY 27, 2 weeks after the glass via Coravin, I pull the cork on the Caillerets and pour it for dinner.
The colour is unchanged, the bouquet is fruit and flowers - it has really opened up. In the mouth it is silky fruit with baking spices. On the finish the tannin shows a little dry. Overall, the wine has changed slightly for the better in the past 2 weeks.

Pure red fruit, balanced beautifully with minerality and acid to frame. Not much by way of depth but QPR was great. High toned Volnay all day. This is good now and should drink nicely over the next decade.

Riper and less acidic than I expected, but very good. Very popular with the table.

I adore this wine. More a 2010 profile than a 2009 profile. I won’t complain.
