1st, people here keep adding age to the vines! This is vintage 2007! The vines were 118 years old then. The grapes were, as they always are, a few months old. The vines may be 122 years old now (or they may be dead), but the grapes in this wine were picked off of vines that were 118 years old. Oh, and only SOME if the grapes were from the ancient vines.
This wine is past it's prime at four years old. Drink it up quickly!
Big is Reds' real name. Big earthy yeast and big alcohol predominate on the nose. Big boysenberry mouth overwhelms anything else that might be there other than some decent tannins that are desperately trying to hold this thing together. It's still good, but seems to be fading off into average land. Drink it up with charcoal grilled burgers and say goodbye to the blazing heat of 2011 summer, and the rest of 2007 Reds!

Most of the fruit has faded, leaving little more than oak, yeast, alcohol and tannins. Oh well, it still cuts the fats from a juicy pork loin. :-)

Man, I missed that No. Cali yeast and floral nose. Fruit is fading, but in many ways this may be getting a second wind. Nice.
