Floral start with lemon and apple aromas. Ripe on nose and palate, but also very energetic and minerally through long finish. Very good now. Better, brighter than an '09 Clos from a few weeks ago.

Glass: Zalto Universal Drunk over 4 days. Clear, pale golden color. Clean, medium+ intense, developing nose, driven by toasting notes: Spices, oak, smoke, some fresh pear. Dense and deep. Dry, medium acidity. 13% abv, partially a tiny bit hot. Medium+ body. On the palate also driven by toasting notes, spices, oak, some yellow fruit in the back, some mineral notes. Creamy, dense, powerful, nice texture. Quite round and balanced. Long, warm and oak driven finish. Even thought it might seem, this wine is not death by oak, but not as steely and clean as I would expect from a Chablis. Potential for 5+ years without much improvement. 89-90.

Unfortunately no special notes taken. Deep nose with yellow fruit, some oak and toasting and mineral notes. A bit broader and warmer than expected, not that steely acidity. But complex and quite long. At its full peak I guess. 90-91

PHMG WAG: Tour de France 2013 (Chez Lyon in Eugene, OR): Take this for what it's worth from a non-chard, non-Burg guy: this is excellent. Sat on it for a couple years knowing I'd want to open it at a tasting so I didn't have to drink it all, then wishing I did have it all... hooh boy... Almost ripe apple, pear, and bright citrus backed by the right amount (read "lots") of acidity that just cleans up the palate and holds that last note of fruit up into the air for examination... solid A! Feels like it could go another 10+ yrs.

10/11/2014 - soyhead Likes this wine:
nose - spearmint, spearmint bubble gum, hints of smoke
mouth - extremely clean, crisp, floral, fresh peach, light but flavorful. gorgeous.
