1999 1er Cru Red Burgundies (East London): Medium translucent red, minimal bricking. Quite tannic, bold, but a finessed strength to it that made it effortless. I remember this impeccable balanced quality from a much younger bottle of V-R. Very lovely indeed.

beautiful translucent red, smelled of tomatoes at first oddly enough and then blueberries, crushed red fruit. It was silky with depth from the start that increased over time. Sturdy without real defined power

Greater Spotted Beaunes - Two 1999 1er Crus from each main commune in the Cotes de Beaune.. (David P's): Palate here is red fruited and marked with a lovely dusting of cinnamon and white pepper. Also a little creme de Myrtille lift. Greatly improves with food.

Still young and fresh, not as intense as the Corton earlier that evening but my 2nd favorite of the evening.
