  • theres alot of bottle to bottle variation with this
the score reflects tonight's bottle which was leaps and bounds above most of the previous bottles tried.
nose of damp forest floor, pencil shavings and old leather entwined with some sweet perfume and roses.
very nice in the mouth and the fruits take front stage here.
finishes a little short but not disappointingly.

  • Old nose of twigs, dry leaves, wet earth, and fruit: red cherry with hints of blackberry and orange. Palate is very dry and mildly bitter, with a touch of glycerin. Feels slightly evaporated/concentrated. Mildly oxidised, with soft flavours of cherry, cranberry, and brown apple. Past its prime; seems much older than it is.

  • Light ruby-tawny (50/50). Very aromatic nose of toasted oak, earth, cherry. Mature flavours that have married and emphasize cherry and smoke with a bright acid finish. Excellent example of budget Burgundy that delivers typicite and true bottle age characteristics.

  • Light red color. Nice and clean pinot aromas, including some spiciness. Some oak, though well integrated. An easy drinking, straight forward and seducing Burgundy.

  • best showing thus far for this wine. A two hour decant helped open the wine's aromatics and beautiful richness of fruit. Ripe, structured, earthy and layered. This is clean but has beautiful depth and struck me as outstanding tonight - especially with a Marcella Hazan recipe of braised pork with porcini and juniper. A class act that gives a glimpse of first rate red burgundy for a song. Drinks well now but will last at least another 5 years.
