  • Another great white Burgundy from Olivier Merlin in Puligny-Montrachet, here a Premier Cru Sous Le Poits.

Brilliant pure and clear yellow colour with little green tints.

Well developed and ripe fruit with wet wood, yellow apples and minerals on the nose.

Lovely concentration of ripe fruits on the palate with a nice body and a fresh acidic, floral characterized output with dry long finish. Very good and persistent and probably the best Puligny from Merlin up to date.

    94/100 points and 4.5

This 2008 vintage is still fresh with ripe fruits, mature and fully developed.

  • A pretty advanced mid gold colour, but one sniff confirms this hasn't oxidised. Lovely, lightly floral, and really quite mineral. Positive attack and plenty of grip on the mid palate, this has lots to say for itself. Certainly at premier cru weight, this feels as if it has a little heft, but it wears it quite lightly, power with elegance. ****

  • Sweet on the nose. Like a pretty generic Chardonnay from a hot climate. Not that refined. A bit sweet on the nose.
Palate is pretty one sided. Nice and well made, but not mind blowing.
Drink within a year or so I think.
