  • Nigl is famous for top notch Riesling and Gruner Veltliner, but now produces some decent Pinot as well. 2007 was the first vintage of the Nigl Pinot Noir. A beautiful, elegant Pinot with cherry and spice on the nose. Subtle use of oak. This is by no means a complex wine, but immensely pleasurable and well-suited to food. Very rare to see Pinots produced in the Kremstal / Wachau, but if Nigl's Pinot is anything to go by, more winemakers should give it a try. A welcome change to the usual reds (Zweigelt mainly) from the region. Won't blow your mind, but worth trying, and inexpensive.
