Wine label says Cabernet Sauvignon below "Vendemmia 1997" but bought at the winery in Montalcino and don't recall how much Sangiovese is in it but it tastes of wonderful Sangi-fruit: pie cherry, cherry rhubarb and musky earthy notes that are pleasantly juicy, well balanced and similar tastes in the finish. Can last a few more years but already has a damask rose nose typical of older Sangiovese's.

Going strong. Certainly full powered with plenty of structure, truffle, blackcurrant, hint of vanilla. Plushness certainly, structure definitely; smooth, rich and chalky fine tannin; touch of sour cherry acidity to keep it lively. Touch of cinnamon on the full and long finish. Develops roasted coffee overtones and back palate with time.Has retained the rusticity you expect for Italian wine and great purchase at A$20 a bottle.
