  • I'll start out by saying how excited I was to drink this wine especially after calling Davenlore Winery and to my surprise, winemaker Gordon Taylor answered the phone on the first ring. I asked him if I was too late or too early to drink this cab 10 years after its release and he simply said "DRINK!". He also said all of his 2005 - 2007's would be perfect for drinking. He wasn't wrong...
This dark ruby coloured cab sav had excellent body and as soon as we decanted it the smell of blackberries and cherries filled our noses. We let it sit for a good hour at dinner and then jumped in with excitement. It was oaky, with a hint of spice and a little anis but the dark berries and cherry really stood out. The flavour lingered for a good while and it accompanied our short ribs and sweet breads incredibly well. Glad we waited and glad I called Mr. Taylor! Find one of these older vintages and enjoy!
