Aerated in decanter for 45 minutes, served non-blind. This bottle was definitely in the zone, with plenty of exotic white and yellow fruits, fresh soil and saline notes, and a long cast of supporting actors helping to enhance its complexity. Medium-bodied, with superb balance, structure, etc. That said, I never did feel like this gave all it had, which is to say I think it has some room to improve from here. In any event, it was totally delicious, with several moments that kept me spellbound, at least, in the best of ways. If this is representative, it should drink at this level for another 7-8 years, at least. Held since ~ 2 years after release. Just lovely. highly recommended
Clear, medium intense lemon colour with a green hue (very bad light), developing
Nose is clean with medium intense aromas of almonds, yellow apples, lemon, physalis, nutts, mushroom, something burnt like burnt oak
Palate is dry with medium+ acidity, medium alcohol and medium+ body and flavour intensity/dry exstract with aromas og yellow apples, almonds, physalis, toasted oak, lemon, liquorice/anise, quite complex and not a style i often taste. Medium+ finish
Well balanced, quite concentrated and very complex, concentration leads to quite high intensity and the acidoty carries the finish. As far as the style im not the biggest fan, very interesting wine, but not a everyday thing. Needs alot of air or cellartime. Not sure i think it is worth the price, but very good quality 90-91p

SLDS May Catchup Event: Blind. Pungent nose, peach, pear, ripe fruit but also under ripe and earthy elements at the same time. Reasonably lean on the palate, the length feels a touch short which is a shame as the rest of the wine is quite interesting. Still good.

Hints of hay on the nose. Oxidative style but not quite at the level of say, a Joly. Had a nice nuttiness and elegance. Perfect with Spot Prawns & Scallops at Cafe Juanita (Kirkland, WA)

Darker than my last tasting, and far more of an oxidative edge. Chenin-like orange and honeyed tones. Medium bodied. Some classic notes, and certainly very drinkable, but lacking in lift and vibrancy.

Dinner at Osteria Langhe (Chicago, IL): Next to the 2010, I thought this was the weaker one. There's something a little bit odd from the immense acidity and fat fruit character here. It shows a touch of orange peel and a little bit of greasiness on the palate too, and coupled with that super acidity, this feels a little less of an integrated wine than the 2010.

Perhaps my last bottle of 2008...Superfine bubbles. Krug like. Which, of course, it is not supposed to be. But still, the champagne comparison is apt: brioche, and insanely complete.

Oxidative nose with some lemon zest and dairy notes as werll as yeast, macadamia, white meat and plaster. With time tropical fruit starts to emerge. Dry and a tad oily palate with deep acidic core and classy round tropical fruit of good concentration. Meadow flowers and wet earth. Some spritz upon opening and this wine needed quite a bit of time to find balance otherwise as well. Very good stuff, but will only get better with further cellaring.

Awesome as always. It was fun to see the group's reaction to this wine. Always shows me mortadella and delicious saline notes on the nose and palate. Fantastic.

Decanted and poured back and forth to remove considerable trapped gas. Sweat and mineral. Great earthy notes and full of class. Medium bodied. Young. Delicious.

Lots of flint and ash in the nose. Very suave texture on the palate. The flavor just stays with you. Some fruit in there, but more mineral dominated. Thoughts of easy oak mellowing into this wine nicely, giving an edge of mature integrating oak flavors, cream soda and such. Seaside-ish, medium acid, meadow flowers on the palate. Mmmmm.

Bill sums it up with "the essance of Trebbiano". This is amazing stuff. Salty, saline, olive oil, grilled bread, roasted monkfish, maybe some fruit in there too. Very spritzy when I first opened it.

Pnp. Enticing bouquet. Fresh and fruity palate with great finesse and depth. This will drink well for another decade at least.
