I agree with the two CT notes below. Yet, with an hour decant, this was delicious with a blue cheese crusted prime strip steak. The cheese muted the wine’s weedy rusticity and allowed the rich and delicious plum, red currant, and tobacco flavors to shine. A much more enjoyable bottle than the 2014 I previously noted, even better on day 2, so Im inclined to believe these all require 20-30 years to show their very best.

Very good wine from a tough vintage. Rich black cherry fruit, smoked bacon, and bbq chicken come to mind. Disappointing flat finish suggests this is what it is and ready to drink now, grilled beef and charred mushrooms will work well, with 14.8 alc.

Yes, this needed sn hour in the glass to show its stuff, as do most white bordeaux. Wonderful texture, the richness of semillion, with the grace of Sancerre. Lots of lemongrass, lemon cream, dried hay, green melon, Needs chunks of barely ripe honeydew wrapped in paper thin speck to really shine. A dry grassy finish, compelling food!
1/11/2024 9:14:00 PM - Ed, it was a pleasure meeting you last night. I very much value your input as a chef with your vast food experience. The greatest weakness I have with wines is pairing with food. Yes, it's easy to say a Harlan or Del Dotto needs a steak but my palate with Italy, Spain and Burgundy leaves a lot to be desired as does my knowledge of food to pair with those wines. I cook 3 things at home and that's it.....pretty sad. On the flip side, both my sons cook pretty much every meal for their families. They could run circles around me in the kitchen! Cheers!
