7/15/2023 12:05:00 PM - @RichEB1 - For real!. the 2012 Dunn Howell Mountain needed 1h+ to open, but its all there. My experience with 2012 Napa (including the long lived Randy Dunn wines) are that they are ready drink now. The 2013's? Not so much.

5/15/2022 2:14:00 PM - To RichEBi: I try hard to rate all wines fairly, whether or not I like them. Regards, rthpal

5/4/2022 9:03:00 AM - Thanks for the info on the Bedrock. Guess I should have remembered that since I was standing in that very vineyard holding a glass of wine last year. Must have drunk too much.

5/5/2021 5:59:00 AM - Rich, what an awesome reply to wake up to! I definitely should have explained the situation in greater detail. I would have been a little weirded out as well if I was in your shoes. Sorry. It's funny because like I said before I had been searching all the vintage auction sites and really threw in the towel because I figured I would never find it. After probably six months of not looking I was on my computer and searched winebid and saw the exact bottle I was searching for, turns out the auction had ended a week earlier! What horrible timing! I immediately saw your handle "RichEB1" as the winner and with a quick google search saw someone with that handle was on cellartracker. I poked around but didn't think you could message someone on here. Months go by and the other day I noticed I could post a public message on your profile page, so I decided to send that first weirdo message ha! I love that the wine that sparked your wine journey was Hilltop! We all have that one wine that flips that switch. Mine was an 87 Penfolds "Grange"! It's funny it was a 99 vintage because we drank that bottle at our regional sales meeting in Atlanta, pre covid obviously. It was awesome! It was also the first year my boss was hired at J. Lohr. I recently bought a 99 J. Lohr's Cuvee "POM" at store here in NJ! I'm curious if it was stored correctly. Cork looked great but as you know the real test is opening it up and tasting it. Let's discuss trade/sale in further detail please email me rhabel@jlohr.com I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you so much for everything!

5/4/2021 5:30:00 PM - All is well RickEB1, thank you for asking. I know we have never met but I took a shot at messaging you. In my search for the 74 Petite Sirah I saw a "RichEB1" won the auction for the same bottle on WineBid. Sorry for the confusion / inconvenience if it's not you. I work for the Lohr family and enjoy collecting our old vintage wines and memorabilia. I took a shot in the dark to see if I could track it down. Thank you for your time. 5/4/2021 7:04:00 AM - Hey RichEB1, my name is Rob Habel and I am the New Jersey Area Manager for J. Lohr Vineyards and Wines. I have been trying to track down the first bottle of wine the winery ever produced for some time now! The 1974 Petite Sirah! I see that you won one at auction. Do you still have it? Are you willing to sell it?

4/1/2021 9:19:00 PM - Hey RichEB1, trust you're doing well! Let me open one more bottle to see if it backs up the first? Honestly, I had greater expectations, and still do for later bottles. Cheers!

5/31/2020 7:05:00 AM - Thanks, RichEB1, for sharing your insights regarding MTP's 2013 vintage. I will be more patient, especially with the Heritage labels. We used to live in Tucson a number of years ago and still miss the high desert....The Moose

5/9/2020 5:51:00 AM - What's your typical Bedrock purchasing strategy when new releases hit? Do you go deep with certain heritage/SVD wines you like or buy a little of everything? I get around 6 of the OVZ and 6-12 Lulu's each year, and 2-3 bottles per Heritage/SVD but starting to find that I wish I had more bottles of some and less of others :)
