  5/11/2015 6:56:00 AM - Dear Gargantua, thanks for your kind message. I am a declared fan of Robola of Cephalonia which I consider as Greece's second best white wine next to Santorini's Assyrtiko. There are 5 or 6 wineries in the region, one of them belonging to the local cooperative while the rest are privately owned. The best is Gentilini whose owner Petros Markantonatos is a friend of mine. He is a young, innovative, passionate and creative wine maker and thanks to him Robola has seen huge improvement over the last years. In case you decide to visit the island I could get you in touch. Besides robola, Cephalonia produces excellent dry reds from the Mavrodaphne grape, a variety made famous mainly from the Port-like fortified reds produced in the Patras region, but lately its ability in producing high quality dry reds has started being explored. Of course, besides wine, Cephalonia is a fantastic destination for hollidays. The same is true for Santorini of course, whose whites are much more famous than Robola of course. Naoussa and Nemea are located in mainland Greece (nortern the former and southern the latter).
