  • 2012 Château Fombrauge

    This is my Foumbrauge #4
    2004 - 93 points
    2005 - 98
    2010 - 95
As you see this is my type of wine. How about this one? It's also very good, but not so good as others. Why?
Because of balance. Acidity and red fruits overwhelmed to certain degree all other flavors. Like coffee, milk chocolate, blackberry, blueberry, black currant. Don't take me wrong. It's still delicious wine, but I wish all those flavors I mentioned above would be on "first page". Very nice tannins. Medium finish with nice spice and red cherry.
    The smell is simply amazing.
A lot of blackberry, black currant, coffee, mint, minerals ( big!), red cherry ( nice and soft), tobacco ( nice and soft), milk chocolate and smoke.
2012 got 93 points according to the WA Vintage Guide. Outstanding

  • 2017 E. Guigal Gigondas

A year ago I had a 2016 vintage and this one is much better.
More complex with more aromas and flavors and with better balance and structure.
Aromas: leather, smoke, cedar, minerals, herbs and more. Very hypnotic and mesmerized.
Flavors: again cedar, minerals, herbs, red cherry, plum, milk chocolate ( o yes!). Long finish with soft spice and red cherry. Velvety texture. Very addictive and enjoyable wine. No wows, but also no ooops.
    Solid juice for 18€
2017 got 94 points according to the WA Vintage ( 2016 got 98!)

  • 2006 Le Clos du Caillou Châteauneuf-du-Pape Domaine du Caillou Les Quartz

2 months ago I had 2016 vintage - 94 points. This is 10 years older.
    90 minutes in the decanter.
First sip and I knew it's a winner! Incredible silky- milky texture! Add to it milk chocolate and you want to drink it all night. But wait. There is more. And "more" is also soft. Acidity, tannins, minerals, plum, black cherry, tobacco. Even spice is soft and mellow. Everything is blended with full harmony and balance.
The smell is also wonderful. Earth, minerals, herbs, black fruits.
    Why not perfect 100 ?
I wish the finish, that lasts pretty long, had some kick with more spice.
    ...

Anyway - this is the kind of wine, that brings a smile to my face.
And this is the most important thing.
    🙂
    2006 vintage got 92 points
according to the WA Vintage Guide. Outstanding. Ready to drink.
