  • Browning on the edges and on the first day, fresh fruits with red cherries (and berries). Leather and earthiness coming through, somewhat tart acidity and sweet orange (?) and licorice.

Main change on the second day - More pronounced menthol, still red cherries but tone of darker fruits. Still very fresh, the tart acidity no where to be found. Fresh, alive and the wine is definitely in a great spot, though no rush based on this bottle.

Long finish, rather smooth silky with fine grained tannins and still solid but balanced acidity. Towards the end sweet fruits flavors coming through.

  • Opened and decanted and enjoyed with alaskan salmon. This 1996 has been well kept and as far as taste goes it exceeded my expectation. This italian has some of the funk that it is known for but also had a well balanced nose with a hint or cherry and spices.

  • Absolutely gorgeous Brunello and a much much better showing than our previous bottle. A typical, classic Brunello with, at least based on that bottle, many years of life. Beautiful nose with dark and red cherry, herbs and spices, leather with that Italian funk with a very tiny hint of VA. Palate is silky, balanced, playing on the ripeness of the fruit and acidity. I loved the floral notes, almost pot-pourrit like.
Elegant with depth and complexity. What a great bottle.

  • Dried cherry nose with Worcestershire sauce. There's also a floral component and old leather stink. Stewed fruits on the palate with chocolate. Dusty tannins.
Really ripe, almost cooked especially on the nose. Surprisingly there's decent acidity on the palate.
Not the best Fuligni I had.
