Chris's Italian Dinner at QCH (Quality Chop House, Farringdon Road, London): Initially the wine seemed a bit out of place as if shocked that it had been suddenly opened unexpectedly. After some time following this in the glass, the wine found its feet and the menthol notes dissipated and the sweet red fruit on the midpalate accentuated. A bottle to drink over a midweek dinner would be great and the highish acidity cut through the fat on the steak very nicely.

Chris’ Italian Feast (Quality Chop House): Interesting nose of marmite, chocolate and dried cherry. Some red fruit ripeness on the palate with quite profound acidity and tannins are very much still present but integrating. Some things to like but not sure it all hangs together

Chris's Italian Feast (The Quality Chop House): This bottle seemed a bit advanced, or at least clumsy, compared to its flight-mates. Lots of really dark fruit, some meatiness, yeast extract, VA... not exactly flawed, but also not quite what it should have been.

solid mid palate with rhubarb/earth; some black tea on finish; great with fancy/cheesy/meaty pizza

Repas-dégustation Brunellos di Montalcino (Restaurant du Théâtre, Monthey): Couleur évoluée, nez itou, herbes sèches, bouche relativement élégante, vin déjà très évolué (un problème de bouteille ?)
