  • Beautiful nose of red cherry with a deeper more regal plum and violet note, with clear leafy development and emerging sous bois. The palate showed a touch of firmness to start with but softened quickly. Like so many 2000s, drinking really well now - lovely stuff ****

  • Bought off retail shelves in Australia in 2014 - a risky proposition. Certainly the bottle was developed (bottles from cool cellars should be less so) but still fine old Burgundy. Velvet texture, sweet warm fruit, and sandalwood like oak.

Complex. Very delicious. A real treat.

    Cork. 13.5%

  • Seepage noted when opening, but not visible previously, rats! Cork soaked through. Still, this is aromatic and flavorful, though fading quickly and with a bit of an oxidized varnish note, along with more brown in the coloration. A strong fruitcake element is balanced by a blood orange, actually almost kumquat element - both of these quite pleasurable - and add complexity to the classic ripe pinot core. An exceptional wine, with this bottle not at its prime. And still, this is superb. I'd rather drink a damaged Chevillon than many clean, well made "moderns."

  • Same source as previous bottle, this has a 98 point nose, but is over the hill on the palate. Just a bit too fatigued. Worth the price of admission for the nose, though. I think this suffered some lack of proper cellar temps at some point.

  • For tasting specifics, I concur with Western's note below. Fantastic touch and breed. This is just coming into its own, but no reason to defer pleasure as this did not improve in bottle or glass. Even though it's understated, this is almost a 'wow' wine. Glad I have more. 91 pts pure quality, 94 pts personal preference.
