Prior bottle was only five months ago so there might well have been some positive bottle variation here. Nose was much more restrained than previously with notes of black cherry, floral and undergrowth. Medium bodied and much better balance than previous bottle where it showed as more lush and fruit forward, nearly to the point of a zin. Black cherry upfront with some black raspberry behind and then red cherry towards the back end along with acidity. The spices are integrated almost completely now and add life to the backend of the wine, rather than being a distraction. Mix of vanilla and mineral notes on the finish. All in all, the wine showed better than I expected and appears to be on a good path. Has the fruit to continue to improve over the next year or so.

Lots of deep, black and rd fruits, but not as complicated as the prior two bottles. I must have under-rated this wine last time. This bottle seemed more primary, with less spice or smoke. We had it with the Digiornio Supreme pizza with the Boar's Head genoa salami. Still a good wine.
Drink now or could age.

We had this wine over 2 nights. One night as a taste with Ivy, who was visiting from Portland, witha Coravin pour. The second night we had it with Digiorno's garden vegetable pizza (tomatoes, red and yellow peppers, zucchini and red onions, with garlic, chives and Boar's Head genoa salami added).
Both times the wine had bold, fruit-forward flavors of raspberry, cherry and strawberry and some spice. It was even better with the pizza - and especially with the genoa salami - which gave the wine a lovely, smokey flavor.
I thought this was a lovely wine for our $21 cost. Good QPR. The winery retail is $40. Drink now or hold. Best with food.
