Tasted over 3 hrs -nearly opaque dark red purple -not much on the muted nose but a little bit of plum and tar -med/med- acidity, med+ weight thick gloppy dark fruit licorice tar, obvious EtOH adds heat to the finish and accentuates the med/med+ tannins -this lacks charm at this point and while the structure and sheer density could allow for much longer aging I doubt it will be any more approachable, massive for Burgundy and much less interesting than the Cailles tasted the same night, a victim of the vintage

Lo Hei at Yan + late night at M&M's (Yan, National Gallery, Singapore): A really commendable 2003. This was a nice wine, drinking very well now, but with years left in its tank. The nose had a nice lift of ripe black cherries, earth, meat and peppery spice traced with just a hint of NSG’s minerality. The palate had a lovely fresh feel to it that made it seem a lot younger than its age, with bright acidity and fine sinewy tannins wrapped around a core of dark cherries and ripe berries, all this infused with bits of peppery spice and dried earth, leading into a full, generous finish. There was a nice elegant strength to this. A touch ripe and warm, but I would never have guessed this was a 2003 otherwise. Very nice, and starting to show very well.

Had the tannins and structure of a good NSG, but also the sweet ripe fruit of the hot 2003 vintage. A weird wine.
