Community Tasting History

Community Tasting Notes (average 89.3 pts. and median of 90 pts. in 36 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by murkybird on 4/10/2021 & rated 89 points: Funky, weird, and good. A little wild and woolly but has that champagne method feel. Better than those oversweet CA sparkling wines at the same price point. (1369 views)
Tasted by PatrickO33 on 12/31/2020 & rated 90 points: Nuts, lychee and yuzu on the nose, quite enticing. On the palate there's brioche, apple and salted lemon. Quite lively with a wonderful balance of salinity, acidity and minerality. Really fascinating. (1291 views)
Tasted by Tony Molester on 11/24/2020: Great sparkling chenin with well balanced rich flavours of brioche, honey and a bit of oak.

Drink or hold (1412 views)
Tasted by ToBolt on 9/25/2020 & rated 91 points: Der macht's richtig, bringt Spaß in die Sache. Aufmüpfige Nase, man will gleich mehr wissen. Dann durchaus komplex, feine Frucht, schön integrierte Säure. Knackig und frisch, sonderbar & wunderbar! (1501 views)
Tasted by arvidpalmqvist on 10/30/2019: Lemon, lime, gooseberry, minerals, a little grass/herbs. Pretty expressive nose in an acid-driven style, not overly complex on the palate but very crisp and refreshing and of good quality. Bone-dry, not food-friendly, more of an appetizer with crisps. Serve not too cold. (2023 views)
Tasted by TannicBeast on 11/8/2018 & rated 91 points: Periwinkle Iron Somm Competition. This very tasty sparkling Chenin Blanc is a great value. Very fine bubbles, ripe lemon, green apple. The palate is very dry, tart and clean, with a savory minerality on the cleansing finish. It is fine by itself but should be excellent as an accompaniment to seafood and creamy cheeses. Drink now, not intended for aging. (1319 views)
Tasted by James Kim on 10/14/2018 & rated 90 points: Wine Tasting Group - Natural Wines - Oct 14, 2018 (Katie Aspen's Home): 90% Chenin Blanc, 5% Cab Franc & 5% Chardonnay. Pet-nat w 8-9 on lees in bottle before disgorgement. No dosage. Aromas of apples, mild citrus, wool and herbs. Palate is similar but with added brioche/bready flavors and tart grapefruit. Mid-weight with nice acids. Fun and delicious. (1222 views)
Tasted by phil the agony on 10/16/2017 & rated 88 points: Une bulle qui est fine mais c'est pas mal acide.Sûrette style bonbon.Pomme verte.

(1506 views)
Tasted by Ben Christiansen on 2/25/2017: Darn that delicious. Pineapple and peach on the nose and then very dry. (1804 views)
Tasted by Aravind Asok on 2/9/2017: Fantastic nose, showing ripe melon and sea salt, but some spicy herbal notes too; hard to describe and not like a lot of other sparklers I've tried. Good crisp acidity on the palate, showing some cab franc like Sauvage notes. Nice finish. Bubbles are a bit coarse, but a very good sparkler. (766 views)
(862 views)
Tasted by maxima on 10/24/2016 & rated 90 points: De bien belles bulles.
(670 views)
Tasted by originalverkorkt on 9/16/2015 & rated 91 points: In my opinion the Bulles de Roche is one of the best sparkeling wines, ther Loire-Valley has to offer. This bottle was bought in 2009, so the NV may be seven years old. The Bulles de Roche has a wonderful ripeness and freshness. It starts with ripe apples, grapefruit, yellow pears, salt, herbs and stone. On the palate the wine is focused, dry, a not too fine but nice mousseux, very fresh and persistant. Wonderfull! (1626 views)
Tasted by AndrewSGHall on 6/6/2015: Great street side quaff with cheese and baguette. (1577 views)
Tasted by JimmyBubbles on 3/31/2015 & rated 86 points: Espumoso natural del Loira.

(1809 views)
Tasted by Harley1199 on 10/10/2013: Matching real Italian food (Restaurant La Piperna - Madrid): Mineral to the bone on the simple side.
Spices and good acidity as starter
Lack any complexity, just for fun.

Tasted by Clos & Cru on 3/8/2013 & rated 90 points: baked pears & apples with touch of sweet spices. yellow plums and quince. earthy notes. wonderful purity
creamy texture, granny smith apple acidity, pear, earthy, bruised apple, long length. Delicious and well priced! (2474 views)
Tasted by Glarange on 7/5/2012 & rated 90 points: Yes, yes yes! Molly Bloom kind of wine! I think it retails under $20, outstanding sparkling vouvray, Saumur. Could swear it was top shelve vintage champagne if i took it blind. (1927 views)
Tasted by Byrner on 4/10/2011 & rated 90 points: Excellent sparkling wine - definitely a worthwhile alternative to Champagne. The acidity is very powerful, but it's perfect for an aperitif as it makes your mouth water. (2170 views)
Tasted by Rupert on 4/3/2011 & rated 90 points: Tangy, ripe, moreish acidity, hard to pinpoint how this is so utterly unlike champagne - must be the ripeness of the fruit - it's gorgeous though (2249 views)
