Clear, pale-medium lemon color. Clean, medium intense, youthful-developing nose with wonderful aromas of exotic fruits, citrus zests, blended with mineral notes and some light hints of petrol. Very fresh and it gets even better over days.
Off-/medium-dry. In contrast to my previous note, I missed the raciness of the acidity. On the palate ripe exotic fruit and very fine mineral notes that both lingers for a long time on the palate. Very balanced, very juicy and joyful to drink. I am only missing a bit the vibrancy and tension. Great Saar Kabinett that is still very young but in a very joyful phase at the moment. Nose of lanolin and peach blossoms. Still showing good acidity with passion fruit, yellow peach, and tangerine on the palate with some flint notes. Very good concentration and viscosity, but not the usual motor oil character of Ziliken Rausch rieslings. (2640 views)

Just some brief notes: Enjoyed with my father. Bottle was empty within less than one hour which is usually a good sign for quality.
This wine makes so much joy to drink, because it has the right balance of fruit, acidity and sugar with only 8% of alcohol. But you can easily underestimate this wine as well, because it is so easy to gulp down the throat without taking the time it deserves. If you take the time you can notice its complexity, its fine balance of fruit, acidity and minerality and its quite long, lingering and very elegant and fine finish. Still very young with great potential for further development and a very good PQR. (2895 views)

This is a decent, down-the-middle Mosel Kabinett from 2012, but a little disappointing for a top producer. To take one example, this is not even close to the 2012 Prum GH Kabinett. It is also quite a bit behind the 2012 Willi Schaefer GH Kabinett. It is fairly sweet and has good freshness, but lags well behind Prum and Schaefer in depth, dimension, and overall palate presence. Charming and very refreshing. Green apple with some tropical fruit and plenty of acidity. The only issue is that it is a little too sweet. It definitely has plenty of acidity and will last many years. No rush to drink this but wonderful now. (2933 views)

Next to the Merkelbach Urgluck that is a Spatlese but drinks like a Kabinett, this is a Kabinett that drinks like a Spatlese. Rich apple acidity, lots of sweetness, a rich, juicy apple and lime fruitiness. Yum. (2898 views)

A bright, clear nose of ripe green apple, lime and crushed rock, along with a positive slight match stick note. Ripe, juicy and most positively tangy. For sure quite concentrated, but with high, lively acidity that leads to a fresh, clean finish. Very stony with a cool feel to the fruit. Apple, carambola, citrus and some floral notes. Extremely refreshing sip with a beautiful sour aftertaste. Clearly a top Kabinett, a good reminder that I should really focus more on the wines of Saar. (2276 views)

Golden color, I was a bit shocked since I expected the Kabinett to be dry. This wine passes more for a Spatless with medium sweetness well balanced by sharp acidity in a backdrop of effervescense. The bouquet had warm yellow fruits like canteloupe melon and peaches. The body had good weight and amplified to the flavors of the food. Very complex and full of tension, this wine exceeds all expectations and a steal for this price. I would even age this a bit longer and see what happens. (1984 views)

Sweet white fruits on the nose, almost noses like a sticky.

On the palette, the wine is mildly effervescent. There is a mild flavor resembling pineapples and sweet peaches. Excellent balance and just the right amount of sweetness.

I don't do too many Rieslings, but this one is exceptional.

I'm a huge fan of Zilliken and again this wine is just great, great stuff. Yes it's sweet, but balanced superbly by outstanding acids and a minerality which makes you think you're in a thermal bath.

My first bottle of the 2012s did not disappoint me. Feels a bit heavier (a bit sweeter and not quite as fresh) than the 2010, but extremely good nevertheless.
