Rubis clair, brillant, très jolie teinte délicate tirant sur la framboise.
Nez net, assez élégant, sur la cerise, un rien confite, un rien amarena qui m'évoque tout de suite l'italie (mais pas forcément la Silcile!), épices douces, un rien floral.
Bouche a l'attaque svelte, assez fine, qui resserre ensuite, sur la jeunesse, sur la tension. Le vin hésite entre finesse et puissance, il oscille.
Finale un peu herbacée (ronce, végétale), qq amers (de jeunesse), une minéralité singulière (qui resserre les papilles), tout cela qui ne demande qu'à s'harmoniser dans la promesse de finesse.

Bought this one at an enoteca in a village at Etna’s northern slope a couple of weeks ago. It was just standing on the shelf, so I knew it might be a bit risky. It was really tight at first, but opened up somewhat after decanting. Ripe cherry, leather, licorice, but it’s past its time. If you’ve still got one, it’s time to drink it up! (52 views)

30 minutes after opening, it changes by the minute. Herbs and wet rocks predominate on the nose, with sour cherries in the background. Medium plus acid, medium tannins, but well-integrated. Long finish. Paired with vegan chili. The acidity was a good match for the tomato-heavy chili. (206 views)

Really interesting wine. I don’t have a lot of experience with Carricante. Took some air and warmth to show itself. I poured it into a decanter about 30 minutes before dinner and it still took the length of the meal to show itself.mostly lemon and lemon zest on the nose. Some river rock in the background. Medium + (almost high) acidity on the palate. Initially, there was an interesting mid-palate richness that went away with time. Finishes with a stony/salty minerality. Really complex. great value. Its been three years since I’ve tasted this beauty and its continue to be the finest Etna Rosso I’ve had. Made from single varietal of Nerello Mascalese planted before phylloxera, earlier than 1881. Intense smoky complex aroma of cherries, dried rose petals, bruised apples, tar, strawberry jam, leather, flint, vermouth hints. Medium+ body, concentrated, elegant and powerful full of ever changing layers of red berries, flowers and pronounced minerality, vibrant acidity and medium light tannins, long finish. (428 views)
