2015 Domaine l'Aiguelière Coteaux du Languedoc Montpeyroux Côte Rousse (France, Languedoc Roussillon, Languedoc, Coteaux du Languedoc Montpeyroux) 5/17/2024wicozani89

Pours with an opaque dark ruby cloak, the nose beckoning with juicy blackberry, black currant, black olive, oregano and rocky soil. These notes carry over onto the palate, dry and medium-bodied, along with a small touch of alcohol with ample acidity. Very black fruit persona. Stated ABV 14%. First of a case and may improve. 95% Syrah and 5% Grenache. 88-90 (30 views)

(41 views)

2015 Domaine l'Aiguelière Coteaux du Languedoc Montpeyroux Côte Rousse (France, Languedoc Roussillon, Languedoc, Coteaux du Languedoc Montpeyroux) 5/7/2024cma82

Quite tight and muscular upon opening, but on day 2/3 mellowed a bit and became a bit more enjoyable. Dark fruits, cocoa, and lots of bramble; plenty of acid and pretty long. Enjoyable wine, but not a flashy one. (60 views)

1999 Domaine l'Aiguelière Coteaux du Languedoc Montpeyroux Côte Rousse (France, Languedoc Roussillon, Languedoc, Coteaux du Languedoc Montpeyroux) 2/18/2024Rani90

Tasted blind next to the 1999 Trevallon which wasn’t blind. Slightly animalistic nose but quite elegant, good stuffing here, red and black fruit, lots and lots of acidity. (123 views)

2015 Domaine l'Aiguelière Coteaux du Languedoc Montpeyroux Côte Rousse (France, Languedoc Roussillon, Languedoc, Coteaux du Languedoc Montpeyroux) 1/27/2024repoper91

First bottle from an auction purchase. Still extremely dark. Shy nose even after being opened for several hours. Red berries, coco powder and a bit of honey. Still has a firm spine that supports the wine. Nice mouthfeel and enough acidity to keep this fresh even after 9 years. Starting to unfold as it sits in my glass. It needs a bit more time in my glass to unfold, but nice. Fruit is starting to emerge. Really nice. (178 views)

1995 Domaine l'Aiguelière Coteaux du Languedoc Montpeyroux Côte Dorée (France, Languedoc Roussillon, Languedoc, Coteaux du Languedoc Montpeyroux) 1/7/2024grog94

Otto’s note is spot on. Not much to add 3.5 years later other than to say this is still in the zone and drinking great on PnP. Very claret-like and in no danger of going downhill any time soon. Drink or hold. (118 views)

2004 Domaine l'Aiguelière Coteaux du Languedoc Montpeyroux Côte Dorée (France, Languedoc Roussillon, Languedoc, Coteaux du Languedoc Montpeyroux) 12/28/2023Vindicator

Fading ever so slightly but still showing more classic NR character than most NRs. Just a delight. I really miss this wine being regularly imported into the US (I found this bottle in a local shop while on vacation on Grand Cayman years ago). (126 views)

2018 Domaine l'Aiguelière Coteaux du Languedoc Montpeyroux Côte Dorée (France, Languedoc Roussillon, Languedoc, Coteaux du Languedoc Montpeyroux) 8/20/2023bobbylion91

Better than rousse, but too young. These need good 7-10 years to start blossoming. Now it’s a bit nondescript. Too much fruit, no balance. (112 views)

2018 Domaine l'Aiguelière Coteaux du Languedoc Montpeyroux Côte Rousse (France, Languedoc Roussillon, Languedoc, Coteaux du Languedoc Montpeyroux) 8/19/2023bobbylion90

Somebody mentioned here that their wine got cleaner and less interesting since the late 90s early 00s. I see it the same way. Maybe they invested in more modern equipment and automated thereby losing some magic in the process. This is good, but not great.

Shame.

QPR is good, yes, but I would pay double (which what their price used to be adjusted for inflation) for the way it used to be. Will try Doree next. Maybe that has retained something. (103 views)

Still drinking really well, although passed its peak. This is “tertiary land” (still balanced by good acidity) and i like that. Opens up nicely with a bit of air and stays nice for 2 hours. Dead on second day with cooked fruits compote. Drink up! (155 views)

2017 Domaine l'Aiguelière Coteaux du Languedoc Montpeyroux Côte Rousse (France, Languedoc Roussillon, Languedoc, Coteaux du Languedoc Montpeyroux) 1/4/2023bobbylion91

Robert Parker: 95

Robert Parker: “My pick of the domaine's current releases is the 2017 Montpeyroux la Cote Rousse, 100% Syrah aged in barriques from Nadalié. Effusive notes of vanilla and raspberry on the nose are followed by a wine of serious structure and concentration. It's full-bodied and rich through the mid-palate, turning silkier and more elegant on the long finish. Give it another year or two in the cellar and drink it over the following decade."

Not sure about RP 95, but definitely pushing 91+ by now. Tonight with pizza - marinara / sardines - home made. Perfect (254 views)

Nose very simple with pepper, lots of earth and some red fruit; very soft on the palate with blackberry; finish long but plump. Not my wine. (186 views)

By coincidence it is almost to the date 5 years since I tasted this wine latest. And everything is the same - it is still not developed in any tertiary sense. A bit more fruit than 5 years ago. I give it another 5 years… (207 views)

1997 Domaine l'Aiguelière Coteaux du Languedoc Montpeyroux Côte Dorée (France, Languedoc Roussillon, Languedoc, Coteaux du Languedoc Montpeyroux) 7/24/2022ikkaariainen92

The durability of this wine is a testament to the winemaking team, terroir and the quality of the subsequent storage conditions - very surprised at how well a Languedoc syrah has held up for this long. Enjoyed at a Chaine des Rotisseurs dinner in Charlotte NC at the Figtree restaurant paired with a course of pan seared duck breast and chanterelles and paired superbly. Definitely still recommend if cellared well, an excellent QPR wine at the average CT cost and really drinking astonishingly well for what it is - fully mature and probably slightly past peak, definitely time to drink up any remaining holdings. Popped and poured over a very short time at the dinner and the last sips of the last glass were the best - if possible would recommend at least a 60-90 minute decant. Reddish purple, peripheral bricking present, soft mouth feel, complex and integrated, oak or tannins essentialy gone but the slightly acidic fruity core is holding strong. Medium bodied and a very pleasant medium long aftertaste. Nose initially of light barnyard which blew off quickly followef by plum, red cherry, garrigue and smoke. Flavor profile of dark fruit, kitchen spices, red cherry, a hint of red pepper followed by a heavier fig and sweet balsamic vinegar late palate and a lovely smokey finish. (172 views)
