N.V. Korbel Extra Dry Méthode Champenoise California (USA, California) 5/4/2024wineotim87

This was gifted to me. Showing surprising competence and form for such an affordable sparkler. That is until the headache set in. (33 views)

N.V. Korbel Brut Rosé (USA, California) 4/22/2024bestdamncab89

Nose of cherry, strawberry, and raspberry, same on the palate, big body, tasty, sweet fruit then a bitter taste on the mid palate prevents cloying fruit, medium finish, lovely aftertaste, under $10 so an easy "beat the heat" sipper. (139 views)

N.V. Korbel Blanc de Noirs - Methode Champenoise (USA, California) 3/26/2013The Drunken Cyclist85

Retail $12. I know what you’re thinking: “Korbel?!? Really?” Yes. Really. OK, for a long time I thought they were awful since, well, Korbel seems to have this “tacky” connotation to it. It does not help that they call it “American Champagne” and have the “Méthode Champenoise” term on the label. A couple of years ago, I went to the tasting room and I have to say that I walked away somewhat impressed. The place was a zoo, but they had several wines that I would not mind drinking. Stay away from the Brut–it is just a bit too sweet, but the Blanc de Noirs and the rosé are both solid efforts. This is a wine that is OK to use for mimosas, but really it is not all that bad on its own. Good to Very Good. 84-86 Points.

2018 Korbel Le Premier (USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley) 1/21/2024gharter91

Part of a large tasting. Who knew Korbel made serious sparkers? This is not your local grocery store sparkler. On the nose, floral, peach, green apple, creme brule, red berries. Similar flavors with floral, peach, green apple, red berry, toast and vanilla. Good acidity, long finish. A really nice surprise. (197 views)

2008 Korbel Natural Méthode Champenoise (USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley) 12/31/2023BryonD88

New Years Eve! Pale golden color with a pretty pinkish orange hue. Fresh hay and fresh baked bread aroma. Crisp, bone dry, excellent acid. Green apple and nectarine flavors. Very good condition for being 15 years old! Fairly short finish but a very pleasant bubbly. (103 views)

Not bad considering this bottle has been resting in my Colorado open cellar since 2014. Very drinkable but a little slow on character. (177 views)

N.V. Korbel Sweet Rosé (USA, California) 12/21/2022The Drunken Cyclist88

The Fifth Annual Largest Blind Tasting of American Sparkling Wine: Retail $16. Pinot Noir, Zinfandel, Sangiovese, Gamay, Chenin Blanc. Cotton candy pink, with a cherry Jolly Rancher vibe on the nose. Tons of fruit, quite sweet on the palate. This has its place and those who are in that place would love the heck out of it. 88 Points.

N.V. Korbel Blanc de Noirs - Methode Champenoise (USA, California) 12/21/2022The Drunken Cyclist91

The Fifth Annual Largest Blind Tasting of American Sparkling Wine: Retail $13. Pinot Noir, Gamay, Zinfandel, Sangiovese. Almost a rosé in color with a lovely nose of strawberry and yeast. Really fruity on the palate with what seems like a touch of sweetness, but it works, at least for me. 91 Points

2018 Korbel Natural Méthode Champenoise (USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley) 12/21/2022The Drunken Cyclist87

The Fifth Annual Largest Blind Tasting of American Sparkling Wine: Retai $16. 65% Pinot Noir, 35% Chardonnay. Medium straw in color wth almost an apple cider aspect on the nose. That carries on to the palate. Not offensive by any means, but certainly a "ripe" vibe going on here. 87 Points.

N.V. Korbel Brut California Champagne (USA, California) 12/21/2022The Drunken Cyclist90

The Fifth Annual Largest Blind Tasting of American Sparkling Wine: Retail $14. Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc, French Colombard, Pinot Noir. Pale straw with a nice sparkle. Quite shy with a hint of lemon. The palate is much fruitier, with nice citrus, a hint of sweetness, but it all works. 90 Points.
