The 2013 Mount Veeder is a beautiful wine that has entered its prime drinking window. Deep toned red and black fruits fill the mouth, nicely balanced with silky tannins, forest floor, tapenade and sublime salinity. Mid weight, plush, with no hard edges.
I think that most CTers, who tend to store their wines well, can ignore AGs recent comments about tainted bottles. (332 views)

Very nice bottle of HM from O'Shaugnessy. Love the HM fruit, more depth and texture to it than other offerings. Medium depth, nice acid, light finish. Not a bold wine but enjoyable as the sun goes down with friends. (249 views)

2013 Progeny MV vs. 2013 O’Shaughnessy MV Head-to-Head

Spoiler Alert — this was a dead even split tie

Part of a larger group event, we put these two wines up against each other.

Progeny showed more tertiary development but plenty of red and black fruit, along with herbs, forest floor, dried forest brush

O’Shaughnessy showed brighter red and black fruit and more evergreen forest notes, on a more tannic structure.

I thought both were awesome in their own way. The group split evenly. Those that loved the Rioja and the Ch Palmer preferred the Progeny, the others insisted the O’Shaughnessy was much better. No losers in this tie.

I have a few more of the ‘13 O’S MV and can’t wait to see what another year or two does. (442 views)

If you like bigger wines, this is a bottle for you. A bit over my threshold, but still easy to recognize the quality. I don't know that I would keep this much longer. Showed a bit of alcohol on the palate on opening which faded after a few minutes of air. Was solid for about 2 hours and then started coming out again. Overall an enjoyable wine, but I'm not a buyer.
