2011 Roederer Estate L'Ermitage Brut Rosé (USA, California, North Coast, Anderson Valley) 4/21/2024chablis2893

My local "big group" Sunday dinner. Theme was"CA wines not from Napa". And, we got a fun range to share at BLVD Kitchen. I love Roederer Estates basic Rose and drink that often. Can't remember ever having the L'Ermitage cuvee rose but I loved it tonight. Very elegant & ethereal presentation. Like this way more than the L'Emitage Brut which always taste sort of disjointed. This rose' is more what you'd expect from Roederer. Reminds me a lot of the French version. 93+ Thanks Gary! (29 views)

California wines but not from Napa: GWASH's bottle, this may have been the best L'Ermitage I've ever had, both rose and brut. Fresh red berries, a creaminess, toast. (66 views)

N.V. Roederer Estate Brut Anderson Valley (USA, California, North Coast, Anderson Valley) 4/13/2024timewithwine

This wine always performs above its price point. Apple and lemon notes with a creamy mouthfeel. The majority of juice in this bottle is from 2016 and then disgorged in 2019 (and purchased on release) A few years of holding always add some weight. 12.5% alc. 04.13.24. With lobster mac 'n cheese. Recommended. (944 views)

Next level on day 2. Sat out for 2 hours on day 1 and then recorked. Amazing still life left. Lemon, sour apple, dough, mild chalk, orange peel and spice. Super complex. Maybe the best bottle to date. (1085 views)

Pale lemon. Med (+) aromas and flavor characteristics of honeysuckle, lemon, lime, pear, apple, white peach, bread, pastry, bread dough, cream. Dry, high acidity, med alcohol, med (+) body, med (+) finish. Fine persistent bubbles that give a creamy mousse. Very good quality- wine is well balanced between fruit characteristics, refreshing high acidity, and medium alcohol. It shows good complexity between medium (+) intensity primary fruit aromas (apple, lemon, white peach) and secondary aromas (bread, dough, cream). If the length of finish was a little longer, this could be an outstanding wine. Lack of tertiary aroma characteristics of hazelnut or honey combined with the good presence of fruit and high acidity indicate this wine is suitable for bottle aging and may develop further desirable characteristics in the bottle over the next 3 years. A pleasant, soft mousse, very refreshing and an unmistakable aroma of lemon poppyseed cake. More lemon juice on the palate (there's the lemon glaze to that poppyseed cake), some apple, both fresh green and bruised apple, crème fraiche/cheesy notes, and violet. A bit of residual sugar is present, just a bit, which is very much welcome to balance out that tangy acidity, with a good amount of yogurt and sour cream on the finish (iffy on that) as well as mascarpone (very much welcome). I still have yet to fully jump aboard the sparkling wine train, but this gets me one step closer to the station. (108 views)

2015 Roederer Estate L'Ermitage Brut (USA, California, North Coast, Anderson Valley) 4/3/2024Sagan9992

This bottle of bubbles surprised me!
It was fabulous!

It had all the things your mama told you about good Champagne... Except it isn't from the supposed centre of the bubbles universe. It's from sunny CA, USA! 🤣

Like a finely baked brioche, with citrus accents and that cinnamon scent after just pulling Mama's apple pie from the oven, and the creamy viscosity of that dollop of pure vanilla ice cream melts away, as the bubbles/mousse burst on the tongue.

( I know the descriptors here are a little far fetched. I mean, ice cream? But, it was certainly memorable!)

I'm in the midst of tasting and testing sparkling wines from several countries and, so far, this is indubitably my very biased leader... at least as they're galloping along on the back stretch!

More to come..

Buy a case. Save it. Is fabulous now. Definitely going to improve!

2007 Roederer Estate L'Ermitage Brut (USA, California, North Coast, Anderson Valley) 4/2/2024frasoo94

Perfectly lovely sparkler - great balance of fruit, acidity. Lemon and stone fruit nicely integrated. Nuanced with deep lingering flavors. Body was very pleasing and tiny bubbles made it all the more festive. At 17 years old, it is just peaking from my perspective. It's age added to the complexity. (157 views)
