2002 Brogan Cellars Pinot Noir Lone Redwood Ranch (USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley) 3/29/2024dfcrutcher84

Forgot I had this in my cellar. Long past its time. Faded, but drinkable. Color starting to lose its pigment. Still has raspberry notes, though they are faint. The primary take-away, though, is that it has lost its concentration. (75 views)

2001 Brogan Cellars Pinot Noir Lone Redwood Ranch (USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley) 2/11/2023Ravi Deshpande93

Well after Margi’s death last year I cannot but feel nostalgic that these are my last bottles of Brogan.

Like other bottles this has a distinctive Russian River nose and profile. Should I rate this as the best pinot noir Ive had? No, but it has character in heaps and a beautiful, if sharp tannic backbone, still bolstered by tart cherry.

Lovely to my palate. Does better with air so give it some time in glass or carafe. (138 views)

1999 Brogan Cellars Pinot Noir Lone Redwood Ranch (USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley) 11/27/2017Blake Brown

1999 BROGAN CELLARS LONE REDWOOD RANCH RUSSIAN RIVER VALLEY PINOT NOIR- made by Burt Williams` daughter Margi who has establish her own identity as a winemaker and learned well from her father, this is re-visit of a wine I`ve had a few times and always found it to be generously giving of joyous gifts; I believe I have this right that most if not all of the fruit came from Rochioli Vineyard and was the second pick of the harvest; decanted with sediment throwing and then poured with lots of changes in the first few minutes; the colour was a dark crimson; the aromas jumped out of the glass with generous amounts of spicy wild cranberry/ cherry; the taste had more of the same plus some smoke and cinnamon; it`s so tasty and still youthful and vibrant; full bodied, rich flavours and a great mouthfeel; wondrous juice. Wine was properly stored from purchase upon release until consumed. Good color. Immediate bouquet - a melange of fruits. Cumquats, figs, raspberries, boysenberries, strawberries, rhubarb and walnuts. Lovely, delicious. After 15 minutes, clear fruity bouquet - balanced. Fruit and citrus turns into perfume with promises of cocoa and chocolate. (861 views)

2000 Brogan Cellars Pinot Noir Lone Redwood Ranch (USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley) 12/2/2011gutt22

Pinot from this vineyard is always a rarity, and this one was showing nicely. Light red color, with a bit of bricking at the rim of the glass. Pretty nose of dried cherry, flowers, and baking spice. In the mouth, the wine seems a bit tired compared to the nose, and it doesn't deliver quite as much. Pleasant cherry fruit and nice earthy notes, but it trails off quickly on the finish. My 2 of 2. As with the previous bottle the cork was soaked through.at least this time round it was not dried up. Bad storage at merchant end. Consistent with previous note. There were some nice aspects in the wine but high alcohol was really a hindrance to enjoying the wine. (1964 views)

Kind of worried initially as the cork dried up and split into two when opening the bottle. Fortunately the wine was quite drinkable though probably not in the best condition. Unmistakably new world. Sweet cola nuance, black and blue fruits, with some spice and earth. Rather complex i must say, Though a little overripe and lacked finesse. (1783 views)

With a name like Brogan and a shamrock on the foil, this seemed like the perfect bottle for St Paddy's Day. THIS wine would have been a great choice on any day. Aromas of red fruit and rose petals burst from the bottle. Flavors of cherry cola, cocoa nibs, river rocks, green herb, and freshly turned earth. Uplifting acididty carries the day and will carry this wine well into its second decade. Wonderful now though 2018. Strong 92+. (2034 views)

2002 Brogan Cellars Pinot Noir Lone Redwood Ranch (USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley) 11/22/2009tarheel1789

I found this pinot to be both aged and elegant. The fruit has taken on an earthy quality indicating the second half of its life. Some forest, briar, and burnt cola notes are evident, which I like very much, and the finish has quite a bit of smoothened acidity, which may come to the fore as the fruit recedes. Tannins are fine and soft. If I owned more than this lone bottle, I would drink sooner rather than later. Chris asked for more (a rarity) 89-90 (1606 views)
