2001 Domaine Robert Groffier Bonnes Mares (France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Bonnes Mares Grand Cru) 5/8/2024Winemaker5194

At it’s peak. Exquisite notes of chalk, oak, oriental spice and red cherries. Indeed, a very silky, elegant style; so unlike Bonnes Mares of other producers with more extraction and firmer tannins. So inviting on every sip and so much alive with fruits. Does, perhaps not the concentration (as with a lot of 2001’s) but for those seeking grace over power; what a perfect example of Burgundy Terroir and pure silk. (12 views)

1964 Remoissenet Père et Fils Charmes-Chambertin (France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru) 5/8/2024jmoore43194

Better than a bottle enjoyed in June '18; more tertiary with a depth of sous bois and classic old burg notes. (15 views)

2010 Joseph Drouhin Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Petits Monts (France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru) 5/8/2024831900_95

Earth, cherry laced with mint, and tobacco on the nose. Medium weight in the mouth. Hints of black tea. A really nice linear transition to the finish, which is medium in length. Light but rooted in earth. Elegant if a bit chalky here and there. Lovely. (18 views)

2019 Domaine Henri Gouges Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Les Chaignots (France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru) 5/8/2024831900_92

Ripe but not plump. A glassy mouthfeel. Almost a touch sappy. Finish diminishes quickly, but lingers gently with a nice acidity. Tastes better in a universal style glass than a broader bowl. (12 views)

2006 Domaine Georges Mugneret-Gibourg Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Les Chaignots (France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru) 5/8/2024TWSA87

Nose: hints of banana, black pepper, black fruits, forest, rose petals, raspberry, spices
Notes: time after time I've wanted to give this Domaine one more shot to prove myself wrong and to seek to understand why this remains one of the most expensive and reputable wineries in Burgundy and time after time I've failed to understand. The winemaking is really too heavy and I am unable to appreciate this Domaine. Drank after opening for 3 hours, I am not sure if more time is required but certainly the nose is not very expressive and the palate is too heavy. I don't think this will improve more although I think this is still quite young and has plenty of life ahead of it. I find this to be a stylistic issue rather than a price or value issue for me personally.

2015 Louis Jadot Morey St. Denis (France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Morey St. Denis) 5/8/2024WineKnut90

Such a treat for a village level wine. Softening on day 2, so this is definitely on the rise.

No technical notes. (28 views)

1999 Domaine Michel Gros Chambolle-Musigny (France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny) 5/8/2024parkline_wine93

Delicious village. Still showing quite young, strong red color, great structure, great for the level. (17 views)

2006 Louis Jadot Charmes-Chambertin (France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru) 5/8/2024Indran Rajendra95

An austere firm wine with subtle characteristics. Feminine introspective nature.

Appearance: Mahogany edge consistent with 18 year old wine. Semi opaque core suggesting the lighter style of pinot. Large volume legs reflects the 13.5% alcohol level.

Nose: Subdued through out tasting. Delicate. Black plum. Licorice. Black cherries. Gooseberries. Spices. Wet earth. Nutmeg. These characteristics are consistent with Charmes Chambertin.

Palate: Austere. Firm structure with high acid and tannins. Lovely mouth feel. Similar flavours as aromas with addition mint and flowers.

Technical: Riedel Bordeaux. Temp in glass estimated as 14 degrees. Drinks well from opening to 75 minutes when it starts to fade. (17 views)

2020 Domaine de la Vougeraie Vougeot 1er Cru Clos Blanc de Vougeot (France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Vougeot 1er Cru) 5/4/2024La Cave d'Argent94

The Clos Blanc Vineyard, surviving the French revolution as an undivided property (monopole), sits adjacent to the Château du Clos de Vougeot. The 2020 version was aged for 16 months in French oak barrels (23% new). Intensely aromatic and flavorful, it delivers a package of blood oranges, pit fruits, lemon verbena, wet stones and honeysuckle. Medium-bodied, crisply acidic, seamlessly alcoholic (13%) and with perfectly proportioned oak, it has excellent mid-palate density and concludes with a lengthy, energetic finish. This white Burgundy has a beautiful fruit/floral/mineral balance. Well-cellared bottles should easily see their fifteenth birthday. Drink now-2035. (31 views)

1986 Domaine Armand Rousseau Père et Fils Ruchottes-Chambertin Clos des Ruchottes (France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Ruchottes-Chambertin Grand Cru) 5/8/2024NickA90

"Rousseau is for drinking" (La Trompette): Absolutely seemed corked at first, so musty was the nose, but patience was rewarded when that cleaned up to reveal - well, a fully mature, delicate, faded Pinot Noir. Notes of church pew and 'old wine' fruit; it tasted good and was nice to drink, but I couldn't quite get past the initial odour. (81 views)

1995 Domaine Armand Rousseau Père et Fils Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Cazetiers (France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru) 5/8/2024NickA92

"Rousseau is for drinking" (La Trompette): Browner in colour, and seemed to have a touch of coffee on the nose too. Well-evolved, transparent and attractive, with a pleasing grip too, but increasingly overshadowed by the stellar 1996, which held up in the glass whilst the 1995 thinned a little and started to fall off. Score 92 for the end of the glass, maybe 93 for the beginning. (82 views)

1996 Domaine Armand Rousseau Père et Fils Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Cazetiers (France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru) 5/8/2024NickA94

"Rousseau is for drinking" (La Trompette): This smelled so good from the off, with a ravishing, well-integrated savoury nose. Crisp acidity and deep, almost beetrooty fruit dominated the midpalate, which also had a gamey side and finished long but slightly thin, with bitter orange. Refreshing and charismatic - in a great place, and my #3 (but the group's WOTL). (74 views)
