No kick from alcohol and fully integrated tannin. Savory. (107 views) | | Tasted by Purple Tooth on 2/16/2020 & rated 95 points: Its been a long time since I have ran across a blue and black wine, but here we are...Very dense, reminding me of a big Napa Cab like Maybach..Yet the nose speaks a bit of French, like a modern late harvest St. Emilion in the likes of Tetre Rotebeouf. Its definitely well crafted and very Merlot dominated with smoky raspberries and cured meat scents. You would expect lots of sweetness from the body and nose, but its quite dry for the style and packed with substantial mid throttle power. Its soft, yet still powerful with a very persistent finish and lots of exit tug...First 2/3 of bottle was best, making me think, this is at peak for the style. Will drink other 2 bottles over 2 years...Drink (2129 views) | | Tasted by willfab60 on 12/21/2019 & rated 94 points: In a very good zone right now. I would give it another 2 years of the window. Smooth and a bit sweet with dark fruits present. (1339 views) | | Tasted by pgrzesik on 1/18/2019 & rated 95 points: Brought this wine to a steakhouse in NYC. Was the wine of the night.
What an incredible wine! So many interesting aromas, lots of bright red raspberries, forest floor, cigar box. When we popped the cork the whole restaurant knew something special was opened buy how expressive this wine is.
On the palate this is full bodied, expressive, incredibly complex with layers upon layers of complexity. Drank over 1 hour and it continued to evolve. It was firing on all cylinders. So rich, so luscious, and a great long finish.
This wine is in a perfect place right now, great balance of age and still youthful. Easily one of the best wines I have in my cellar. (1635 views) | | Tasted by Elkcims on 3/12/2015 & rated 97 points: Yum, delicious - love this particular edition, probably because of the elegant juicy Merlot. Was much better than the Buccella Estate Cab. Glad I have another in my cellar ! Hold potential for another decade. (3632 views) | | Tasted by CR lawrence on 4/13/2014 & rated 95 points: Decanted a couple of hours; the aroma of berries and fresh cut fruit filled the room...the wine is purple with long legs, hints of cinnamon, pepper, and dark chocolate. Add a fresh loamy soil taste to the aromas and we have a full bodied wine with a silky texture, well integrated tannins and a very long finish. A very nice wine with friends, and ribeye steaks on the patio tonight. (3454 views) | | Tasted by Ravello on 1/26/2014 & rated 92 points: I expected this wine to drink better (3429 views) | | Tasted by Ravello on 10/26/2013 & rated 97 points: people can say what they wish about high alcohol full body red wines from California, but after drinking this bottle, all I can say is give me more, this wine was beautifully balanced, elegant and delicious with or without food. long finish (1960 views) | | Tasted by sjdcellar on 9/30/2013 & rated 97 points: several of us thought this was close to perfection - stunning dark chocolate and upfront fruit, only slightly tannic after several hours open - expensive but worth it (1859 views) | | Tasted by pdemaio on 9/10/2013 & rated 95 points: Huge and sexy. Oak and big, ripe fruit. Great spice. lush body fully coats the palate. Chocolate and Mocha. May be over the top for some, but a beautiful big napa blend. PDQ95 (1652 views) | | Tasted by jrkennedy37 on 4/4/2013 & rated 96 points: This was a stunner! Very tight upon opening but after about 4 hours in the decanter it was full of lush chocolate and ripe fruit. Not as over-the-top as I expected (after trying only Mica), one of the best napa cabs I've had recently. Balance is impeccable, fruit is superb, and the layers of black fruit, blue fruit, chocolate, light vanilla, and velvety tannin made for a jaw-dropping experience. (1727 views) | | Tasted by Niagara on 3/10/2012 & rated 94 points: Lovely. Big and lush, but not over the top. (2498 views) | | Tasted by cubswinws on 10/16/2011 & rated 93 points: Nice young wine but all the parts are there. Beautiful pure cabernet fruit. Nice balance for such a young wine. Would hold 5+ years and try again. (2528 views) |
| Buccella Producer websiteCabernet SauvignonCabernet Sauvignon is probably the most famous red wine grape variety on Earth. It is rivaled in this regard only by its Bordeaux stablemate Merlot, and its opposite number in Burgundy, Pinot Noir. From its origins in Bordeaux, Cabernet has successfully spread to almost every winegrowing country in the world. It is now the key grape variety in many first-rate New World wine regions, most notably Napa Valley, Coonawarra and Maipo Valley. Wherever they come from, Cabernet Sauvignon wines always seem to demonstrate a handful of common character traits: deep color, good tannin structure, moderate acidity and aromas of blackcurrant, tomato leaf, dark spices and cedarwood.
Used as frequently in blends as in varietal wines, Cabernet Sauvignon has a large number of common blending partners. Apart from the obvious Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the most prevalent of these are Malbec, Petit Verdot and Carmenere (the ingredients of a classic Bordeaux Blend), Shiraz (in Australia's favorite blend) and in Spain and South America, a Cabernet – Tempranillo blend is now commonplace. Even the bold Tannat-based wines of Madiran are now generally softened with Cabernet SauvignonUSAAmerican wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.California2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson Napa Valley Napa Valley Wineries and Wine (Napa Valley Vintners)Napa ValleySt. Helena |
