| Community Tasting Notes (average 91.5 pts. and median of 92 pts. in 111 notes) - hiding notes with no text | | Tasted by thesternowl on 4/19/2024 & rated 92 points: Popped and poured; no formal notes. I would still categorize the 2013 as developing and in a really good place right now. Secondary characteristics are just beginning to show themselves and the fruit and structure are in good balance. Pretty much a fastball right down the middle of the plate as far as Napa Cabernet from Rutherford goes, and that’s a compliment. Drink now through 2038. (732 views) | | Tasted by WineKnut on 1/16/2024 & rated 92 points: Still somewhat guarded after 3 hour decant off of abundant sediment. Black cherry, mocha, dusty, vanilla and moist saddle leather on the nose.
Medium bodied in the mouth. Dry fruit driven palate. Cocoa, mint, attic, granite, juicy, and mouth coating fine grained tannins are the supporting players.
Cerebral. Drinking well at age ten. 92-93.
No rush. (1318 views) | | Tasted by nicholasagonzales on 12/29/2023 & rated 95 points: It was beautiful around the edges. I will probably wait before the next bottle. Opened for about 2 hours before drinking. I think this wine ages well and the sweet spot is just a little over 10 years old, but probably not past 15. (1271 views) | | Tasted by fclarity on 10/13/2023 & rated 89 points: Basic cab tasted at the winery. Still a bit primary. May have been better with more air. (1732 views) | | Tasted by DizzyOneCheck on 9/15/2023 & rated 92 points: Nose is dominated by cherry with faint hint of oak, but palate is much more balanced. Cherry, vanilla, licorice, oak, raspberry. Soft mouthfeel, not quite mouthcoating but very supple. A well rounded, well integrated cabernet that is drinking well now. Decanted for about 30 minutes. (1645 views) | | Tasted by Wineshington on 5/13/2023 & rated 94 points: Delicious. Big fruit but no sweetness. Resolved tannins. (1808 views) | | Tasted by Glenb on 2/14/2023 & rated 90 points: Nose- radpberry, smokiness, mocha. Taste- blackberry, black currants, raspberry with hints of raisins and oak. Super smooth and ripe tannis. (1944 views) | | Tasted by Chiefwino59 on 1/21/2023 & rated 91 points: Excellent complex, lingering finish, still good for 2-3 years (2080 views) | | Tasted by Winechat63 on 11/21/2022 & rated 92 points: Extremely smooth. Incredible QPR at $50-60. Have one more and wish we had more. Some oak, not overly fruity. Was best at mid palate, but good all the way. (2079 views) | | Tasted by dgcaldwell on 10/29/2022 & rated 94 points: 2 hour decant. Approachable now; big big old school Napa cab, perfect balance. Not a fruit bomb. You could easily cellar this for another 5-10 years . (2127 views) | | Tasted by KAT9 on 5/13/2022 & rated 94 points: Had a blind vertical of inglenook and 2013 came out on top for everyone at the table. Initially muted, but then there was tobacco, and then tea. Very nice. The fruits are mostly gone. (2891 views) | | Tasted by Tahlequahdave1972 on 4/21/2022 & rated 93 points: Decanted for two hours and consumed over the following two. Cabs can so often be a matter of personal taste and this vino struck a chord with my wife and me. Rich, thick and robust. Packed with fruit, oak and acidity without being overwhelming, sweet or a fruit bomb. Approaching balance and resolution with many years of life ahead. Beautiful! (2318 views) | | Tasted by up4wine on 3/7/2022 & rated 91 points: Well balanced and nicely integrated; no overbearing oak tones to contend with. (2465 views) | | Tasted by JCGuthrie on 2/17/2022: Out of 375 again. Similar notes to my last bottle, put perhaps a little less expressive. To be fair, this was the backup to an oxidized Montelena, so it only got about 15 minutes of air. (2354 views) | | Tasted by Vineyard Boy on 1/22/2022 & rated 93 points: Still high tannin, could benefit from another 5 years, but very enjoyable now. Glad I have more! (2385 views) | | Tasted by RonniePiemonte on 1/20/2022 & rated 92 points: Rocknroller nailed it in the note below. (1871 views) | | Tasted by rocknroller on 10/10/2021 & rated 92 points: Very dark red/purple color. PNP, drank a couple glasses over 3 hours. The offers pure notes of black currants with a blend of red and black berries, dried forest floor and wood spices. The palate is full bodied, tangy dark fruits, black currant, boysenberry, nice spices, white pepper, with restrained oak framing on a satiny texture. In the early drinking window and I would expect a little upside yet. (2658 views) | | Tasted by srwatters on 9/23/2021 & rated 93 points: This wine is settling down and can be enjoyed now or laid down for several more years IMHO. Good solid acidity and tannins are softening and in balance with the fruit. Lovely dusty nose and enjoyable with or without food. I'm happy to have a few more of these in the cellar. (2159 views) | | Tasted by advinm41 on 9/18/2021 & rated 93 points: Excellent Cali Cab for the money. No decant. Expressive nose of cherries, currants, spices, violets, leather, vanilla. Palate is well balanced, full of black and blue fruit and with sweet, well integrated tannins. Finish is fairly long. May get better with age but ready to drink now (2098 views) | | Tasted by Z1nnfull on 9/5/2021 & rated 92 points: We drank a 1999 Inglenook Rubicon upon my retirement (02-2009) and that is the measure against which I compare all Cabernets from anywhere. So...when Costco carried this several years ago, I bit. As others have noted, this is approachable and perhaps smooth and elegant, medium-bodied, but the end of the sip and the finish last FOREVER! Dusty cellar tastes (almost Rioja-like), leather, cherry, cigar box and strong black licorice. I posted a photo of the sediment it threw. I've never had a wine that throws sediment like that that isn't a superior wine and this is no exception. Outstanding. Purchased a 2018 at Costco this week and fate be willing, 2025-2026 for THAT. THIS is a drink now...we did breathe it all afternoon and it paired well with grilled rack of lamb with mint pesto sauce, linguine and asparagus. Worth the $50+. It is smooth enough, I'd be afraid it might degrade beyond 2022, but I'm no expert. (2170 views) | | Tasted by JCGuthrie on 8/15/2021 & rated 93 points: Out of 375. Red and black fruits on the nose with some smoky elements. Restrained style, medium tannins, solid length. Very nice. Young but very approachable in this format. (2327 views) | | Tasted by BigBoy_Sonoma on 3/13/2021 & rated 96 points: From 375ml. Open 5 hours.
Black fruit, leather, tobacco, herbal notes, cedar, cassis, hints of chocolate and Smokey oak. A (2852 views) | | Tasted by KAT9 on 3/12/2021 & rated 95 points: Perform very well tonight. Outstanding fruit purity. Good balance, good finish. This base Napa cab can give anyone a good run for the money. (2724 views) | | Tasted by Barolo Raymond on 2/27/2021 & rated 90 points: Bold, big and brawn. Deep ruby with black core, viscous@14.2% abv. Dry, medium acidity, medium-ripe tannin and full body. Palate of blackberry jam, dark chocolate, white pepper, licorice notes. Smooth and better balanced than previous tasting ~ years ago. Very good length, power over elegance. No subtlety. (2680 views) | | Tasted by darren81 on 12/29/2020: 8/10 - On the dry side. | Inglenook Producer websiteCabernet SauvignonCabernet Sauvignon is probably the most famous red wine grape variety on Earth. It is rivaled in this regard only by its Bordeaux stablemate Merlot, and its opposite number in Burgundy, Pinot Noir. From its origins in Bordeaux, Cabernet has successfully spread to almost every winegrowing country in the world. It is now the key grape variety in many first-rate New World wine regions, most notably Napa Valley, Coonawarra and Maipo Valley. Wherever they come from, Cabernet Sauvignon wines always seem to demonstrate a handful of common character traits: deep color, good tannin structure, moderate acidity and aromas of blackcurrant, tomato leaf, dark spices and cedarwood.
Used as frequently in blends as in varietal wines, Cabernet Sauvignon has a large number of common blending partners. Apart from the obvious Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the most prevalent of these are Malbec, Petit Verdot and Carmenere (the ingredients of a classic Bordeaux Blend), Shiraz (in Australia's favorite blend) and in Spain and South America, a Cabernet – Tempranillo blend is now commonplace. Even the bold Tannat-based wines of Madiran are now generally softened with Cabernet SauvignonUSAAmerican wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.California2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson Napa Valley Napa Valley Wineries and Wine (Napa Valley Vintners)Rutherford Rutherford,
