Tasted by Beach Boy on 4/11/2020 & rated 90 points: Elaine and I opened this bottle of wine to have it with our filet mignon (barbecued) dinner. It was very good, to say the least.
Full bodied. Excellent fruit flavours. Very enjoyable with the steak.

Good value. I would buy it again. (703 views)

Tasted by kowskima on 5/1/2016 & rated 88 points: Tasty but was definitely past its prime. Was ready to drink when I bought it in 2014. (1675 views)

Tasted by Winosseur on 10/30/2015 & rated 87 points: Way past drinking age. Has lost all of it's body and nose. (1780 views)
Tasted by prism on 5/10/2014 & rated 89 points: Loose cork. Popped and poured. Rich, sweet, full-bodied, uncomplicated and delicious. Drinking beautifully. Great QPR. Day two, nearly as good. (2621 views)
Tasted by monk1019 on 4/14/2014 & rated 87 points: Great 2nd to the extra special 2007 Syrah from Kendall Jackson. Full flavors, nice mouthfeel with no pretense to be other than what it is. (2579 views)
Tasted by Brian Love on 1/16/2014: Fruit driven, well made Syrah. No pepper or meat. Very good and not overblown. (2037 views)
Tasted by cstir on 12/23/2013 & rated 88 points: Drank 2008 and 2009; both similar; slightly more fruit flavor in 08; 09 had more complexity and finish; both were enjoyable. (2021 views)
Tasted by NEwino on 11/12/2013 & rated 91 points: I enjoyed the finish on this bottle it had just the right amount of spice and paired really well with my chili. I thought the bottle had come along nicely however if you wanted to keep holding it you could. Drink now or till 2015 (2246 views)
Tasted by bluepeter2020@outlook.com on 4/19/2013 & rated 88 points: classic central coast syrah with plenty of black pepper in the mouth. (2177 views)
Tasted by wino121 on 11/1/2012 & rated 90 points: This certainly gotten better over the last year, a good drinker loaded with up front fruit and a solid finish. (2331 views)
Tasted by rwerner on 9/29/2012 & rated 89 points: A bit of sweetness on finish which I marked it down for but good flavors (2003 views)
Tasted by Calhounmi on 4/6/2012 & rated 86 points: Fruit forward but limited finish. Stood up to a Mexican meal, but lacked depth and complexity. Very one-dimensional. (2391 views)
Tasted by Ann&Wayne on 2/25/2012 & rated 90 points: We had this as a pre-dinner drink, it was very good. Dinner at Carpe Diem was accompanied by a very nice syrah from Novy. (2331 views)
Tasted by Agoltz on 2/11/2012 & rated 90 points: - Brick color. (2009 views)
Tasted by Grillgod on 12/24/2011 & rated 89 points: Excellent red fruit styled syrah. Very smooth and balanced and not a lot of secondary flavors but drinking nicely now. Very much in the Justin style (2242 views)
Tasted by StainedGlass on 11/13/2011 & rated 87 points: Deep, dark purple. Intense attack of plumb and blackberry fruit and oaky tannins, with the fruit dissipating relatively quickly. For me, a bit too forward and youthful at this stage. (2258 views)
Tasted by lebo9968@gmail.com on 6/10/2011 & rated 86 points: Deep garnet red color. Big fruit nose. Hot, fruit forward palate. (2621 views)
Tasted by ardria on 5/16/2011 & rated 90 points: good syrah, really pretty good but not great. has that nice fruit and bacon fat flavor but almost comes across as artificially flavored (2689 views)
Tasted by yonster24 on 11/15/2010: I started off loving this - and don't get me wrong, it was good - but it wasn't spectular. Dark fruits, earth with a bit of cedary oak underlying it all. Full bodied wine, but not over-the-top at all. Juicy flavors that the nose had promised coming through on the front of the palate. Problem is the flavors seemed to dissipate when it got towards the mid-back of the palate. Somewhat Hollow. Finish was nice, medium length +, but I kept wondering what happened to the wine after the initial attack of flavor. if not for that, this would have been a spectacular bottle. (3278 views)
Tasted by BWF on 7/3/2010 & rated 92 points: This is a great comeback from the 2007 vintage, reminds me a lot of the 2006. Great nose on this wine, smooth on the tannins, very much that Central Coast distinct character. Wonderful food pairing with a couple of grilled Buffalo Ribeyes. Will be looking to get a few more bottles in my cellar and look forward to a couple of years down the road. (3542 views)
Tasted by RobinC on 5/26/2010: For American idol party (3694 views)

Syrah

Varietal article (Wikipedia) | (Wines Northwest)

Note that some producers in the Northern Rhone distinguish between simply Syrah and "Serine", the latter described as ‘an ancient clone of Syrah, the berries of which are more oval-shaped and less deeply pigmented than Syrah’ by producer Tardieu-Laurent.

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

California

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
