Community Tasting History

Community Tasting Notes (average 91.1 pts. and median of 92 pts. in 10 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by Zweder on 2/17/2022 & rated 92 points: Monthly tasting club "The Tasting Club" 2022-1; Vintage Port (@ RvD by PvL): In the bouquet figs and caramel. On the palate figs, raisins, a bit alcohol and good acidity. (1325 views)
Tasted by Tartiflette on 11/20/2015 & rated 90 points: Double decanted for about 12 hours. This is not a powerful, overwhelming and breathtaking port. More a feminine and fruity charmer. Pickled cherries, vanilla, plums and slight/woody spices. Good grip and no heat to ruin the Port. Good aftertaste and nowhere near it´s end. Bought this en primeur. (3415 views)
Tasted by paulf on 5/9/2015: This had about 6 hours in the decanter before first try and came across as quite sweet with some earthy spices. It had excellent body and mouthfeel but came across as a little one dimensional. It also finished a little short, but still provided a good amount of drinking pleasure. A day later it had held pretty much the same with no discernible deterioration. 90 points (3282 views)
Tasted by Ralph_ on 8/9/2014 & rated 94 points: A very good matured port. Drink it now - 2040 (3652 views)
Tasted by Pinotphile123 on 8/8/2013 & rated 94 points: Cork crumbled on opening. Good colour, licorice, mince pie, coffee characters. A lot going on. Only one negative point is its a little thin for VP but still very enjoyable. Sat in a decanter for 3-4 hours, should have been longer maybe. (4262 views)
Tasted by robbied111 on 1/11/2013 & rated 93 points: Seepage evident, so opened. Decanted easily, cork wear. Wonderful fruity nose, berries galore. Strong VP legs. Clear, powerful palette with woody hints. Perfect timing!!! (3722 views)
Tasted by Keith Cooper on 5/26/2009 & rated 85 points: Tasted at the end of a long dinner, having been preceded by twelve other '89 wines. So our taste buds probably lagging a little. Fine to finish the meal, but not particularly exciting and probably past its peak. (2505 views)

Port Blend

Over a hundred varieties of grapes (castas) are sanctioned for port production, although only five (Tinta Barroca, Tinto Cão, Tinta Roriz (Tempranillo), Touriga Francesa, and Touriga Nacional) are widely cultivated and used.
