As it opens you get the tart cranberry, on the palate is so much the same. It does have a velvety, dry tannic finish but it’s pleasing. It gets softer and fruiter. Some tart on the finish too. It reminds me of a fruit roll up and makes the sides of your jaw pucker a bit with some mediums to high acid. I was told to try this as a better alternative to prisoner. That was spot on. The nose is filled with succulent and juicy mix of cherry, ripe fig, oak, tobacco notes and black pepper. Relatively young vintage but so ready to drink from start. Firm yet fleshy on the palate with rounded & almost mouth coating finish with finishing notes of vanilla or hazelnut liquor. The finish is long and satisfying. Wine is so easy to drink and definitely makes me scream for more. Yums!
