Tasted by rocknroller on 3/28/2024 flawed bottle: Shrimp Heads Ride Again (PS Steak (Pseudo La Belle Vie, Mpls, MN)): corked (922 views)
Tasted by Wine Canuck on 11/17/2023 & rated 92 points: This pours light gold in the glass. The nose is love, aromatic, and classic Vouvray showing apple blossom beeswax, lanolin, baked peach, chalky mineral, and applesauce. The palate is just the tiniest pinch off dry feeling like the typical 5 - 6 g/l entering on fresh crisp apple. The acid is medium plus, almost high and quite sour, turning a touch toward bitter apple skin on the finish. All in all the nose is quite classic and thoroughly enjoyable and the palate while bright and refreshing is definitely a tad bitter, holding this back a little for my tastes. Still quite nicely done and I'm happy to report holding up very well after 13 years. (1411 views)
Tasted by andrei trolldeig on 2/28/2023: Bought on auction. Second bottle this winter, both consistent. My first Huet cuvee so take it for what it is: dense yellow colour, honey melon, a developed feel to it, but also a sezt of kefir leaves on the nose. Succulent, rich on the palate, shows it self as as rich as a tendre or demi-sec, some gentle spices at the end like camomille, but prolonging with the acid still holding up at day three. Impressive consistent with the exposure to air. On that note I guess it will sit well on its plateau. (1793 views)
Tasted by TomEndresplass on 12/30/2022 & rated 94 points: Very acidic upon opening. 4 hours gave it more balance. Beautiful wine that shows lots of ageing already. Hay, beeswax, lime, lemon, minerality ++ Drank over 3 days and just keeps on balancing out and delivering on a very high level. (1754 views)
Tasted by acidqueen on 12/29/2021 & rated 95 points: This is a stunningly good and terribly young wine. Still the palest yellow color with a hint of gold. It should be decanted and left at room temperature for some time before it opens to reveal aromas of hay and honey and flavor of dry honey and lemon rind. I had to open this to give try it although I know it is too young. Give it 20+ years. I confess I will have a hard time waiting. (2527 views)
Tasted by Tim Heaton on 1/19/2021: Very good. Held since release, this PnP was good on first opening, but as might be expected, it picked up some more expression as the bottle fellow below its half-way point, some one hour into it. The color reveals no age, and the aromas are more integrated than in your face primary. The waxiness of the Chenin has something of a spicy edge to it that I seldom find, but then I mostly drink the Demi-Sec bottles. Brilliant with food/apps. 12,5% abv., I'd say this is comfortably in the zone. highly recommended (4085 views)
Tasted by bacchus of knockholt on 1/3/2021 & rated 91 points: Apple with some honeyed notes which follow through on the palate with rich apple tarte tainte flavours and some stony, mineral notes. This is definitely dry but the honeyed notes suggests otherwise. It’s complex and ethereal and I’m afraid my desorption doesn’t do it justice. (2523 views)
Tasted by gtilley on 12/27/2020: This is at a perfect point in its evolution and has everything you’d look for in a Chenin blanc. Developing a golden hue, nose shows honeycomb, honeysuckle and juicy apple fruit. It is forthcoming. These characters follow into the palate, which has precise, persistent acid and introduces burnt caramel and brioche notes. It’s clean, and will continue to improve I would think. (2210 views)
Tasted by devillighter on 12/12/2020: Opened at cellar temperature and consumed over several hours. Golden yellow color. Nose is similar to a pear cider, apple cider, or calvados without the alcohol. Very refined and elegant nose. Palate is orchard fruit with complementary acidity that continues through the finish. Overall impression is that this wine is supremely elegant and drinkable. A bottle consumed six months ago had some oxidative character and was just OK, but this bottle had no oxidative notes and was much better. (2183 views)
Tasted by drrobvino on 7/19/2020 & rated 95 points: 1st of 2 bottles, purchased at $28 USD in 2011...what a WFTM.
This may be the best Chenin Blanc I have ever had the pleasure of drinking. Nice notes of wet wool, quince, lychee, pear and apricot preserves on the nose. Once on the palate, this wine shows med+ in body, a bit of heaviness, with the orchard fruits peeking through, alongside honeycomb, lanolin, minerality, and quite brisk acids that melds the whole experience into a focused and tense symphony, direct and correct.
This is a beautiful and delicious wine, varietally correct and just lovely. The off-dry palate is perfectly reeled in with laser focus and balance.
Delicious, drink now through 2025+. (2188 views)
Tasted by sleepyhaus on 7/18/2020 flawed bottle: Last bottle of this, and sadly was oxidized. Cork broke as well, so assuming some sort of cork failure, but has been properly stored in my cellar since release. I love Huet when it's on, but the failure rate of this domaine is worrying. (1663 views)
Tasted by Finare Vinare on 6/6/2020 & rated 93 points: Beautiful development with floral topnotes over quince preserve, honey, candied lemon peel, and emser pastilles, among other impressions. The palate is off-dry with great concentration and solid acidity. The deep, complex and long sensations really merit full attention. The wine appears to have reached a formidable plateau where it will stay for many years ahead. (2277 views)
Tasted by davidspieker on 5/18/2020 & rated 90 points: Drink at cellar temp. Yellow gold color. Mixed fruit and floral aromas. Melon, ripe nectarine, and lemon and stone flavors. Nice acidity with lengthy pleasant finish. (1791 views)
Tasted by bacchus of knockholt on 3/29/2020 & rated 91 points: Pale gold. Nose of red apple, crab apple, pear, apricot. To taste it’s a jumble of bruised fruits including red apple, pear, apricot, waxed lemons, lanolin, some honeyed notes but certainly finishes bone dry with a chalky, slightly dusty finish. Great value for a quality wine. Wine Society, £16, I suspect a little dearer now... (1969 views)
Tasted by Ydaucourt on 3/20/2020 & rated 92 points: Le belle tension est toujours là mais le temps fait son œuvre gentiment le tout s’arrondit petit à petit. À boire ou à attendre (1687 views)
Tasted by SiR on 2/29/2020 & rated 94 points: 12.5% - Clear, med+ straw with a gold reflection / clean, pronounced intensity - ripe pear, exotic fruit, honey wax, nutty, white flower, chalky / dry, high acidity, med round body, med to pronounced intensity, long finish carrying through with a pleasant mouth coating texture. That bottle was shining and evolved nicely since the last one 8 years ago! (1853 views)
Tasted by JM_MadTown on 1/28/2020 & rated 87 points: Well, this bottle is slightly better than the last one I had recently. It does have nice fruit, but it seems to be slightly oxidized. Good acidity and minerality too. (1870 views)
Tasted by portman63 on 1/3/2020 & rated 91 points: Showing very balanced with touches of peaches and nectarines with a good acidity and stoniness to balance it. There is no sign of over-maturity quite unlike the 2010 Le Mont I drank a couple of weeks back so that must have been an anomaly. (2183 views)
Tasted by JM_MadTown on 11/22/2019 & rated 87 points: Hmm, I am not a fan of this wine. At least it is not oxidized like some of Huets 2009’s that I have had recently. Yes, it does have good acidity, but I find the wine to be tart and acidic with the fruit in the background. Perhaps it is just not my style. (1662 views)
Tasted by winchester-xi on 5/19/2019: The bed is clean! The bed is clean! (2935 views)
Tasted by Frank Murray III on 5/17/2019: My final 750 of HL 2010. Out of concern for some recent comments from others about the 2010s, I opened a Sec LM earlier this week that was drinking great, and this HL is the same. Even moreso than the LM, this HL has a lot of remaining acidity, and so much of it, that I commented to my wife over dinner that it was over-running the fruit. After the bottle had been open three hours, and a little less chilled, I poured off another few ounces and tasted it again. The grapefruit/citrus impression is not so intense, and the fruit is allowed to come forward. What comes through is some honey, green apple, nectarine, tangy peach and some flinty notes. Yes, the grapefruit is still there, but the balance is better. Plan to to retaste tomorrow, as I have enough for one more good size glass.....revisiting yesterdays bottle with another glass. This acidity continues to be the strength of this wine, the energy for the expression now and likely it's future ahead. The fruit depth remains fresh and lively, so all together, this is lovely, driven with power and freshness. (3135 views)
Tasted by pigdaddy on 2/10/2019 & rated 91 points: 375 ml. 4 years ago this was terrific from the same size bottle & w/the same dish. equally delightful tonight, although the fruit is more tangy nectarine & clementine, less noticeable r.s., terrific acidity that lingers in a most pleasing way. not as supportive w/the food, as the pork, chile, szechuan peppercorn elements want a little more plush fruit. still, a delight & while it seems there's some gamble that premox may show in half bottles sooner, this bottle is delish.

Tasted by alanh13 on 1/23/2019: Coravin tasting. Very saline on the nose. Absolutely no oxidation. Super fresh. Quite saline on the palate as well. I think this needs to open up a little. Reminiscent of a chablis but a bit different or maybe even a little mudcadet. There is something smoky there also and maybe a hint of honey. Not really getting much apple, which should be typical for chenin blanc. Actually I'm getting some granny smith apple now, but not the browned apple I expected. Quite acidic actually. I like it.  Tasted by guitarguy on 10/2/2018 & rated 90 points: Lemon, grass and wax nose. Hints of oxidation indicate an earlier drink date may have been preferable. Lemon, wax, stemmy notes with a long, lemony finish. (3025 views)
Tasted by brooklynguy on 9/18/2018: A bit flat - lacking drive aromatically and on the palate too. If this is representative, not a great year for this. (3916 views)
