Tasted by PourSomeRed on 2/10/2024 & rated 93 points: This wine is drinking really well. Complex to say the least. No where near its past drinking date. Popped and poured. Open one and enjoy! (253 views)
Tasted by Rkgreen5 on 10/1/2023 & rated 93 points: decanted for 3 hours (357 views)
Tasted by Rkgreen5 on 10/1/2023 & rated 93 points: excellent. Had it stored in cellar and once opened decanted for 3 hours. (340 views)
Tasted by Rkgreen5 on 10/1/2023 & rated 93 points: Despite a bit past drinking date, it was excellent. Had it stored in cellar and once opened decanted for 3 hours. (326 views)
Tasted by DobsonFamilyCellar on 5/21/2023: Still drinking beautifully (459 views)
Tasted by Bellissimo on 10/8/2022: Cool autumn evening. Cozy up around a fire.

PnP. Big fruit driven (blackberry, black cherry) cassis, with anise and coca yet there are enough acids to not make it seem out of balance. (750 views)
Tasted by Jonne on 1/23/2022 & rated 92 points: Stor doft av mörka bär och lite mint. Aningen för kokt frukt för att riktigt passa min smak men stort, fylligt och med sammetslena tanniner. Ett härligt vin. (1238 views)
Tasted by Backdoctor on 1/15/2022 & rated 91 points: Had a lot of life left to it. Fruit was still there. Soft tannins. Easy enjoyable drinker (1255 views)
Tasted by SpoochMan on 12/2/2021 & rated 91 points: Last bottle, consistent with previous notes (1342 views)
Tasted by europat55 on 9/20/2020 & rated 89 points: Fruity nose (B++). 'Raisiny' palate (B+). Tasted Blind. Looks like this may be starting to fall apart. (2298 views)
Tasted by LW31 on 7/13/2020: Surprisingly fresh and middle weight. Not particularly detailed or long. Nice with summer grilled sausages etc. (2153 views)
Tasted by prasm on 6/12/2020 & rated 91 points: Consumed over 2 days (vacuvined), note from day 2. Nose: Medium intensity, sour cherry, blackberry, marzipan, and rusty earth with hints of shoe polish. Palate: Full bodied, ripe dark red fruit and spice attack, great acidic balance yet, black pepper notes appear through the mid-palate with the big spicy fruit persisting all the way through the back-end. Finish: Lengthy, 45-60 seconds, dominated by slightly raisiny fruit, black pepper and spice. (1865 views)
Tasted by SpoochMan on 6/8/2020 & rated 92 points: Had with steak as Tania visited. This is drinking extremely well now. Not a style of wine we often look to anymore, but it is nice with a thick steak from the grill. What distinguishes this from a lot of other heavily-extracted wines is that it also has decent acidity, and that keeps it from being gloppy. I stopped buying Clio years ago as our tastes moved more toward Italian wines, but this had me thinking that I should occasionally buy a bit more Clio for such occasions. It is a crowd pleasing style of wine. (1878 views)
Tasted by GlenviewGSW on 5/3/2020 & rated 93 points: still drinking very well with no signs of slowing down. Really nice modern expression. (1888 views)
(1779 views)
Tasted by pgm on 10/13/2019 & rated 93 points: Smoky meats and black fruit on the nose, and then superdelicious flavors of blackberry with a tannic and tart cranberry edge giving it balance. Lingering fruit sweetness through the finish. Probably at peak, and probably will stay at this plateau for at least five and maybe ten years. (1744 views)
Tasted by rocknroller on 9/25/2019 & rated 92 points: Dark purple color. PNP, drank 2 glasses over 2.5 hours. The nose exudes deep dark fruits, black cherry and blackberries, dirt and earth, smoke, anise and savory note. The palate is forward, plush and layered with pretty black fruits; creme de cassis, blackberries, tart black cherry, blood meal, wood spice, smoke, and dark cocoa. The tannins give a silky fullness to the full bodied frame. This is really drinking well. Amazingly balanced at 15.5%, there's not a hint of alcohol showing. This is a bold wine that pulls it off well. Certainly no where near the end of the line either. (2036 views)
Tasted by SpoochMan on 8/5/2019 & rated 91 points: BBQ. This went quickly. It was dark fruited and rather extracted, but was drinking smoothly and had enough acidity to keep it from being gloppy. Was enjoyed and went pretty quickly. No huge rush to drink these, but should finish my other two bottles in the next couple of years. (1709 views)
Tasted by CWilliam on 8/1/2019: Tried bottle at Bone's steakhouse in Atlanta, GA. No formal notes. This wine drank very well. I've never had a Clio with 10 years of age but this wine has aged well [not what I expected given my tasting note from 2012]. Black licorice, cherry, blackberry - still fruit primary - but some secondary earthy notes coming in. 92+ (1704 views)
Tasted by chull on 5/25/2019 & rated 93 points: Smooth, lush but still very lively. Really enjoyed this. (1445 views)
Tasted by ADiamond on 5/23/2019 & rated 89 points: Much jammier than I remembered, very fruit forward, no acidity or tannins to speak up. But still very enjoyable. (1367 views)
Tasted by The Kokopelli on 5/11/2019: Saturated deep burgundy hue, an enticing nose of cherry, licorice, tobacco, and wood smoke. Nicely full-bodied, but not rounded. Solid depth of flavors, ripe black cherries, cloves, oak lurking in the background, and some herbal notes. A touch of acidity to string it all together. A wine that captures and peaks your attention. More of the same on a finish of decent length. (1450 views)
Tasted by rocknroller on 2/10/2019 & rated 91 points: Inky purple/red color. PNP, drank 2+ glasses over 3 hours. Plenty of oak and dried herbs on the nose up front, gradually the dried earth notes become more prominent, lots of dark fruits that take on more depth as it opens, blackberry, creme de cassis and a more subtle hearbaceousness. The palate is full bodied, tart dark fruits, blackberry, black cherry, lots of wood notes, a touch of vanilla, black currant, with a greenish streak in the middle, dark chocolate, and dusty tannins. Lots of oak here that works pretty well given the age; No heat showing. (1961 views)
Tasted by djdaqm on 12/15/2018 & rated 91 points: Big wine with lots of dark berries, luscious oak and spice. Seems to me this is a wine better drunk young (5 years) when the berries, oak and spice are lush rather than when it's a little older and the alcohol comes through more. (1765 views)
Tasted by andrewdodd86 on 10/20/2018 & rated 94 points: Consistent notes with last night’s Coravin. All fruit. Wonderful (1764 views)

Vinos de España - Wines of Spain (Instituto Español de Comercio Exterior) | Wikipedia
Wine Map on weinlagen-info

Spain is the third largest wine producing nation in the world, occupying the majority of the Iberian Peninsula with vast diversity in climate, culture, and of course, wine. From inky, dark reds of the [Priorat] to dry, white Finos from Andalusia, Spain can easily boast of elaborating a wide variety of notable styles. Within Spain there are currently 62 demarcated wine regions, of which a handful have gained international recognition: [Rioja], Priorat and [Ribera del Duero]. Yet these regions are only a small sample of the high quality wines Spain produces. Regions such as Cava, Penedes, Somontano, Galicia, Rueda and Jerez are only a few of the numerous regions worthy of exploration throughout Spain. Spain can also lay claim to having the most land under vine in the world, growing up to, by some accounts, 600 indigenous varietals of which Tempranillo is their most well known. Other popular varietals include [Garnacha], Bobal and Monastrell for reds and for whites; the infamous [sic] Palomino Fino grape which is used in the production of sherry wine, Pedro Ximenez in Montilla Morilles, Albarino used in the creation of the bright, effervescent wines of Galicia, and Verdejo in Rueda. - Source: - Catavino.net

Spain is not in the forefront of winemaking for its dessert wines, other than for its sweet wines from Sherry country including the highly revered Olorosos (when sweetened). But apart from Sherry Spain has a range of styles of dessert wines, ranging from the those made from the Pedro Ximenez grape primarily in Jerez and Montilla-Moriles) to luscious, red dessert wines made in the Mediterranean from the Garnacha (Grenache) grape. Some good Moscatels are made in Mallorca, Alicante and Navarre. The northwest corner of Spain, Galicia, with its bitter Atlantic climate, is even making dessert wines, called “Tostadillos” in the village of Ribadivia (similar to France’s “Vin de Paille”). The Canary Islands have made interesting dessert wines for centuries (they are mentioned by Shakespeare, for example) and in recent years the quality of winemaking has been improved and the Canary Islands wines are being better marketed now. The winemaking styles for “Vinos Dulces” are also diverse, from “Late Harvest” (Vendimia Tardía) to “Fortified Wines” (Fermentación Parcial). Based on in-spain.info.

Murcia

Located in Southeastern Spain, the "lost" region of Yecla lies to the east of Jumilla and to the west of Alicante. Fortunately, this region was spared much of the wrath of the phylloxera plague, and many ungrafted and extremely old vines remain. The Yecla region’s progressive leader, Bodegas Castaño, has long been an advocate of the Monastrell varietal, also known as Mourvèdre. The varietal is best regarded for its influence on the wines of Châteauneuf-du-Pape where the terroir and climate is not dissimilar to that of Yecla. Both benefit from a very warm, Mediterranean climate with warm days and nights.
